This was the perfect Hollywood movie. Not only did it have an actual story, relevance to modern society, good acting, great direction, good writing, but it was entertaining and not without hope.

I loved the choice of actors, as well. Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine--all big stars, but not distractingly so. They all have something of the quality of character actors, particularly Clive Owen.

A lot of movies about war love to show the meaninglessness of it, and come across a bit pointless & depressing because of it. As horrible as Children of Men was to watch, I didn't feel depressed at any time watching it. And it was visually amazing. A piece of entertainment, which ultimately is why I watch a movie.

My only complaint was I wondered what happened to the world. They never really answered that question.



On another topic, did this movie remind anyone of Half Life 2? This whole film felt so much like playing that game, the visuals, the sounds, the themes, the action. I used to think great video games reminded me of movies, but they're becoming such a huge industry, the influence is working both ways now.

I loved this film too. I can understand the feeling of hope represented by the first pregnant woman in 18 years, but I still thought it was extremely bleak.

But that may be due more to all the main characters slowly being picked off by the end than the actual world situation.

I saw the movie with a friend who is British so she found it particularly horrifying.

I couldn't help but think of recent events as I watched bombs going off in England in this film.

I totally agree, it's bleak & horrible, but for some reason I didn't find it depressing. I guess it's because there's a message of hope. England was "soldering on" despite having no reason. Kind of shows the human spirit enduring through the very worst circumstances.

How sad was it when the nurse told the story of when the plague first broke?

It gave me a mixed reaction. I found it very entertaining and enjoyed it. But as far as the moral to the story it was indeed mixed. It seems like society had done it to themselves. The racism row and prejudices were also very apparent.

Maybe it was supposed to be a warning to us all!

It was a very well made movie but I hated it. It was sooooo depressing.

I found it very realistic and very depressing but think it´s a great film.

One of my favorites from last year.

A classic film, very under-appreciated.

My thoughts excatly...I had to put on a 'Friends' DVD after that....but it was a good movie...the scene where all the boming stops at the sound of the baby crying was very moving...
