If aliens invaded

How would you and world react?...i'm being serious, i've always wondered how the whole would react to this, would society collapse and anarchy reign?

You see these movies but i don't think any of them capture what would actually happen, of course until it does it's hard to say...i just don't think movies are very realistic about it.

It's very interesting you pose this question.

This is the best thread in ages, by the way.

Pick up a book called "Childhood's end" by Arthur C. Clark. In usual Clark fashion the book takes an insane twist half way through, but the beginning of the book addresses the human reaction to Aliens coming to earth.

Clark, like many scientist, believe that religions will be the hardest hit, as they will loose even more credibility with people, but he postulates that conflicts in the world will continue unless the aliens actively intervene.

What kind of invasion? Are they just stopping down to say hello? Or are they trying to take over everything.

Oh yeah, this is a great question.

What kind of invasion? If it's like an org invasion must people would just view it as a very strange cliquish vacation.

The premise would be not an actual landing, as in ships/troops landing...more like shipships in orbit.

Like they just assume a stationary orbit with zero communication.

You absolutely must read "childhood's end" then because they aliens orbit for 50 years before finally revealing themselves to the humans. There are very precise reasons for the secrecy, but I don't want to give the book away.

I think it would be more interesting that way...to see how the world reacts, would world governments view the silent treatment as a national security threat?

Would a pre-emptive strike take place.

No, the book's premise is hokey from especially when from the middle to the end.

But the beginning of the book describes the world's overall reaction very interestingly. I was merely recommending the book based on that alone.

They fire more and more missiles and continue to try to develop something more effective. They spend vast amounts of money on this and other areas get neglected.

If aliens invaded u would see a slow but methodical takeover of all things important 2 humans by a select group of aliens representatives. This group would control all govt's, business, religions, media, and education among other things. U would slowly see the erosion of all human freedoms into what would be called, the New World Order. Anyone who opposes this group, will be labeled with negative reprecussions soon 2 follow.

Does any of this sound familiar?

I would put all my money in butt plugs, and buy an alien-proof island with my billions.

Seriously though, if it happened during this administration?

1. Pat Buchanan and Lou Dobbs would team up to build a fence OVER the US dubbed the Terrordome. They would employ illegal workers to build it.

2. G.W.Bush would arm the aliens, taking to one in particular, calling him "probie". No-one will tell him he never meets the same alien. He thinks the aliens will use the arms to fight Iran.

3. G.W. would then declare the Aliens a threat as part of an Octagon of Evil with Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, the aliens and...that's it. He doesn't know how many sides an octagon has.

4. The aliens would leave, citing no desire to deal with dipshittery of this magnitude. The earth will suffer as they only intended to help cure famine and disease on our planet.

5. G.W. will appear on the moon with a giant banner visable from Earth stating "Mission Accomplished".

People would be scared I think because nobody would know what they're capable of. Tony Blair would be dispatched to make friends with them.

Assuming there's no contact?

I'd say it would bring us together initially as humans, then it would spawn a new series of debates that would divide us again.

In other words, we'd act just like we did before.
