It's gonna be hard at work But we'll find a way round it
All in all, I think it's a good thing "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

Well, most of my friends of mine find the habit repulsive, and those who do smoke are starting to realise they have a bit of an expensive addiction.

You know I was on the other side of the debate when they implemented the Florida smoking ban in resteraunts and other businesses (other than bars/clubs who's revenue is 70% or more from alchohol). I thought it was too naziesch. However after living with it for 3 or 5 years now, I can say that when I went to Europe the thing that bothered me more than anything else was all the damned smoke everywhere. I mean EVERYBODY smokes over there. It was insane. London wasn't nearly as bad as Paris, but it was bad enough to irratate the hell out of me. I was stunned at how permissive England, Germany, and France were about smoking. I always viewed those countries as being years ahead of the states when it came to health policies affecting it's citizens. Certainly when I was there, the Europeans where healthier looking . (You guys have some really nice asses).

mdiver said: Dewrede said: They should just have non smoking zones in cafes The majority of the people that frequent cafes smokes , so it's unfair What they should do is what they do in South Africa which is have a smoking area but it is glass walled in.... You see smoke does not see a no-smoking zone and say "i wont drift over there" much like a fart. I have no problem with you smoking dude...just dont make me smoke that shit. Oh, those things are nasty. As in at the airports? I found them a great deterrent. I'd be dying for a cigarette, say waiting for the flight from Penang back to Bangkok, but knowing how being inside that glass walled stink-fest of a room for even 10 seconds would completely saturate every inch of me and my clothing with the smell of cigarettes, I always held out until I was outside again. Nasty. I never cared about the smell when I was around smokers. Spending more time with non-smokers made me paranoid of the smell and feel guilty about smoking around them. I think that's the key. Hang around all non-smokers. . [Edited 7/1/07 16:58pm]

Nasty. BINGO. That's how non smokers feel in ANY indoor area where smoking takes place, even if at much more "tolerable" levels to a smoker.

It is also hard to eat when your eyes are tearing up and you feel like gagging. Like I said I am not against smokers - I am against being confined to a small space with a bunch of smokers.

Oh, well there were no super hot asses in the CD packing factories - just smelly slags reading about Will Young in the Sun newspaper and swearing like sailors. Look at me coming down hard on the smokers. I feel like every day my lungs are slowly but surely being transplanted with Lance Armstrong's and already I can have good sex again!

Ex-Moderator | I still believe any private business should be able to allow any legal activity on their premises they so desire. Let the market decide. There were plenty of non-smoking restaurants and clubs here in Mpls before our ban went into effect.
That said, once it went into effect, I really liked it. It keeps me from smoking quite so much when I go out, and it's nice to come home not smelling quite so awful. I still like the novelty of smoking indoors on occasion when I find a place that allows it, mind you. But it's something I can live without. |
