The drive to "New Tampa" is actually well over an hour if you factor evening traffic, and I just don't know if I could live with myself if I took 2 hours of my life in pursuit of yogurt.

Anyone got a headache tablet??
So, random thoughts: ~ I was slightly late meeting my colleagues (surprise, surprise ) but who the hell goes to a party at 7pm?? (My boss only wanted to get there early, schmooze and make a good impression ). Luckily, my other colleagues waited at a bar for me. ~ very rarely will you hear me say something like this but I looked fucking dandy last night, if I say so myself. Sorry, that may sound arrogant but that suit hit the spot. I must wear it more often. ~ I did not get drunk, thankfully; a little tipsy but most of the evening was this weird feeling of being high on adrenalin/nerves. The last thing I wanted to do was insult/make a pass at/fall over someone I've yet to work with. ~ the food was nice and we got three free drinks; the rest were subsidised It's an office - so all the crap and politics that goes with it, by design, are still there (certain Managers were throwing their weight around) - but they really do seem to treat their staff a lot better than the office I work(ed) in. A lot more relaxed, down-to-earth and concerned about how their staff feel. Of course, I have yet to work there but the initial signs are positive. ~ having said that, once again I realise schmoozing is an art I really need to develop. It's not something I'm particularly successful at (not if I don't feel like it, that is). I really must get out of office culture. I don't care who does what, works for whomever, earns this much, sleeps with such-and-such, is this that or whatever So much of office culture is based on acting a certain way or being seen to say the right things to the right people. Bore off. ~ most of the night, other partygoers just looked at our table with this 'Who the hell are they?/What are they doing here?' expression. It was quite amusing, in some ways. ~ I did my standard imaginary castanet 'click' when dancing to 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'. vainandy would've loved it. ~ the band played a lot of George Benson. ~ tearful colleague moment: I had to escort my boss to a taxi after a guy managed to pour half his bottle of beer down her dress. She was NOT impressed. ~ a girl I used to be in school with was there (my main memory of her being that she was a hardcore Extreme fan and she once scolded me for saying I 'fancied' someone. Didn't I know you had a 'crush' on someone?? ). We didn't speak last night but I'm sure our paths will cross at some point. ~ there are some very sexy men in my new office ~ also, there are some very friendly people working there. Had a few nice conversations with people I will be working with soon. ~ the night was topped off by a visit to a gay bar with a colleague telling me all about the four-year gay relationship that no-one else knows about. I got harrassed by some guy and rolled in around 5am. Oh, and a drunk middle-aged woman tried it on in Miss Millies. All in all, a pretty good night! Now I gotta find that headache tablet.

Although I'm afraid I have no idea what this means: Oh, and a drunk middle-aged woman tried it on in Miss Millies. Thanks, Carrie! Miss Millies is a local, um, food establishment just around the corner from where I live. They have seen my drunken ass far too many times than I care to remember. I was trying to buy chicken strips, fries and gravy with this drunken, drooling woman making eyes at me. Thanks, but no thanks.

Lars is walking the dog, we were out all afternoon, shopping, of course. I bought a few socks and two t-shirts. One sleeveless, but I am too sissy to wear it tonight. I will just have to rely on my boots, white t-shirt and dazzling smile.
Tonight we are going to the a bar I am sure would interest a certain participating Orger on this thread. Hehehe. Even though he seems to ignore me, I still love him.

Ex-Moderator | I had a divine breakfast with a friend this morning.
And I picked up stuff to bring for the BBQ I'm attending this afternoon/evening. I'm making a salad of spinach, green onions, strawberries and pecans with a rosemary/balsamic vinagrette. And bringing a bunch of fresh asparagus to grill. yummmmm. |
