Coming soon to a Minneapolis near you for an unlimited engagement... ...ME! Yup, that's right - I'm moving to the Big Mipple this fall, most likely the first weekend of September! For those two or three people who still don't know, the Endorphin74 Occasionally Known As An Orger (or EOKAO as they call him in the tabloids) and myself have been a bit of an item for a while. Ok, maybe more than a BIT And, well, one of the things we discussed when we first started iteming was how stupid long distance relationships can be - and that even though the distance between Minneapolis and Chicago isn't THAT extreme, that at this point for us, not being under the same roof is too extreme. Soooo...we did some comparing and contrasting of our respective hometowns, and decided it would be best for both of us if I made the big move out there. At first we decided to go for a long-range plan where I'd move next year sometime, but the more we talked about it, the more our time frame whittled down until now, where we're looking at making the big move in early September. I've gotta say I'm very excited, not just to be living with Endo, which is a HUGE deal to me in ways I can't even anticipate; but to start a new chapter in my life with new surroundings, new people, a new job (which doesn't quite exist yet, but I hope to find sooner than later), new energy, and all that happy new stuff. I could really use a drastic serving of happy new stuff these days. My six years in Chicago have been good to me, but I don't think it's working out here. I moved here from New York in 2001, and my life as a Chicagoan reminds me of that quote by Sandra Bernhard: "Ah, New York, New York: If you can make it here, you'll FAIL EVERYWHERE ELSE!!!" I think I learned a lot of good things in Chicago, but creatively and professionally, I just think that for reasons most certainly connected to my own quirks and weirdo wiring, I've never meshed very well in this city. I don't mean that bitterly. I love so many things about Chicago. I just think it takes a certain kind of person to thrive in this city, and that person ain't me. Also, socially, I love, adore and will miss the bejeezus out of the few friends I have in Chicago, but aside from a handful of really close friendships, I never felt like I was able to build up a good social network here. Chicago has been very isolating for me, which has been an experience unique to my life before moving here, and it's an experience I plan on leaving behind when I move. I think for personal growth, this has been a great city for me. I think that in terms of growing as a part of the outside world, these years may have stunted my growth a little (or this just hasn't been the time of my life for that). I think living in a house with other people - especially when one of them is my boyfriend - is going to be a great change that will bring me out of my shell more than a little bit, and lots of good will come of it. Endo and I have already done so much phenomenal stuff together and we have so many neeto plans and travel coming up, it's going to be fantastic living with the person who I most love enjoying the rest of the world with. Plus, between the two of us, we're gonna have the BEST RECORD COLLECTION EVER. So yup. There ya have it, that's my big news. No Chicago Invasion at Anxy's house this year.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I wish you the best of luck despite your thread content. You're talking about the drama squirrel, aren't you? I love that squirrel, especially when it comes to Carrie's awful habit of smoking with wet hair.

That's the first activity Anxy and I have planned together. We're going to smoke on the porch with wet hair. All day. We may even have to get the hose out to keep re-wetting so's we don't lose the important moisture necessary for smoking. |

Don't make me get my chair. look, if we're going to smoke with wet hair, can we at least drink skim milk whilst doing so? nothing tastes better with a cigarette than skim milk. i'll even get that brand you like that doesn't go bad for five years or whatever. I finally just gritted my teeth and read the original post by Anxiety. Is he moving to "move on" with his life, or is he moving for ass? Cause one might end up with him doing porn, and the other might end up with him watching porn.

Congrats (although I could never personally endorse making major life changes for an S.O.)!
Count me among the out-of-the-Org-gossip-loop folk. I'm confused: is Endorphin74 the same person as superspaceboy?

You musos. actually, we had a discussion about if it was still appropriate to make mix CDs for each other if all our music were in the same house anyway. and of course, IT IS!
