Dulles Airport trouble.

Hi there,

I'm having a spot of bother and I was hoping that someone in the Washington area might be able to help me out.
I am flying into Dulles International Airport on 13th August 2007 at around 5 p.m and I need to get to Easton. As far as I know its about a 2 and a half hour drive so it would probably be too expensive to get a cab.
Using public transport (bus/rail/metro etc) how would I get to Easton.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Argh. Org ate my post.

It looks like the straightest shot to Easton, MD is across the Chesapeake Bay. I don't think the metro does that. Maybe there is a ferry you could take. I used to live in Dover, DE and went through that general area to go home to VA. I'm sure there are some DC orgers here that have better info.

biggrin

You can call a travel agency to see which is your best option.

maybe to rent a car for a day and drive it to Easton and drop it off in Easton.
They always charge a drop off fee at the drop off site, but you would still end up saving money over a cab fair.

The Bus is of course the cheapest option if it's offered, but would take forever to get there if there's no direct route.

I am sorry to tell you that public transportation options out of Dulles other than a cab is likely some sort of bus and it probably won't get you all the way to Easton. It is also probably going to take longer than two hours (although hard to tell how long with out knowing the day and time that you will be traveling). If it is on a weekend, maybe closer to four hours.

I would checkout Greyhound Bus schedules out of D.C. Take a cab or bus (if available) from the airport to the D.C. Greyhound station and take a bus from there to Easton.

There are no ferries across the bay. At least there weren't any when I grew up there.

Car rental is definitely the best option if it is in the budget.

In fact, you may need to change buses in Annapolis.

Even if it cost a bit more, as long as it's a tolerable cost difference, it would be the very least aggravating option.
