Traveling Insomnia...it sucks, does it happen to you? Right now I have a horrible case of travelers insomnia. I've switched time zones and I can't sleep. Also I have trouble sleeping at other peoples houses or in beds that are not my own! This just adds to the problem. I am on here trying to get sleepy. Does this ever happen to you when you can't sleep cause you've changed time zones or you're in someone else's bed and not your own? Oh lordy yes, I thought I was the only one...I also tend to get constipated and my ears stay clogged for days after a plane ride, yuck! Hopefully Princey will make me forget about all of it this weekend. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Have you North Americans stopped calling it "jet lag"? I used that term when talking to a Canadian friend of mine and she didn't know what I meant.
Anyway, I'm pretty good at adapting these days. It's almost impossible to force yourself to sleep when your body doesn't want to, so the trick is to force yourself to stay awake until an appropriate time. That gets you onto the right clock pretty fast.

They seem to be pretty much the same thing, although jet lag includes more symptoms than just insomnia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_lag spelling edit [Edited 7/4/07 5:37am]

Oh goodness yes, that happens to me all the time! I recently spent a month in North Carolina, and my sleep pattern was very much affected. It was good to get home so that I could sleep in my own bed. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Hopefully Princey will make me forget about all of it this weekend. My ears stay clogged for a couple of hours after a plane ride; don't you just hate that? I have tried chewing gum, but that didn't seem to work too well. I keep having to yawn to get my ears to open back up again so that I can hear. It's awful. Recently, when I was driving through the mountains of West Virginia and Virginia, my ears were popping. It must have been because of the higher elevation, but I have driven through that area before and have never noticed it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

In the words of Tom Waits, "I don't go on the road a lot. It makes me grumpy...I'm an albino catfish. I like it in my tank."
In fact, I'm hoping to never have to leave my tank again. I think I can do it!

Yeah, just sleep when you need to. I was getting up at like 6.00am in South America and recently not until 10am back in Europe. There's Joy In Expatriation.
