Suicidal people

Did you know anyone who committed suicide or attempted it? have you thought about it or attempted it yourself? Life can be hard for many people. Discuss....

Like a real deal attempt?...if i did i wouldn't be replying to you right now. Which is my point...people don't attempt suicide, they attention seek...if the intent is to kill they will kill themselves.

Sure sometimes things don't go according to plan and they live, but they could always try again. My point is...if you're truely intent on killing yourself you will, anything else is attention seek or cry for help.

In all seriousness, what is your motivation for posting this? It is a bit deep. I don't mind that, but if you're asking because you're having those thoughts and feelings, you should speak to someone more qualified than us.

If you just want to know, yea, I've known people that have killed themselves.

i know people who have killed themselves, and i admit i have a fascination with death.

i'm way to stubborn to actually kill myself or even to make an attempt, but i do have moments when i meditate on the ultimate irony of living life - death. confused

Yes. One of my friends who served with me in the army hung himself in his mother's kitchen.

Unfortunately, I do know two people that committed suicide. It was the worst news I ever received in my life. Sometimes, life can be too hard for some and they just feel like they have to end it. I personally don't think I could ever do it to myself. sad

Yes I have known two people who have taken their own lives. They were friends of my son. Last May he lost his best friend's brother, he was only in 8th grade. Then last June a girl my son was sweet on shot herself, she was only 12. So my son had to deal with two friends suicides in less then a month. It's a very hard thing to deal with, because my son fights with the thought of what could he have done to help.

You can only pray for their families in hopes they can heal. pray

When I was younger I wanted to die constantly. I was too afraid to ever do it though. I know someone that attempted it three times and I'm always afraid that they might try again. It's such a deeply haunting issue. How sometimes you cannot reach someone that is to that depth of agony. Worse is when people around them have no idea they are even in that state.

RIP to those who have passed and peace to those who ever think this should be an option pray peace

Yup. Can't stress that enough.

Suffice to say, I've lived with depression most of my life and yes, there have been many, many times I've contemplated it. But I always got through.

Incidentally, one of my favorite books that happens to feature the topic is Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down. Check it out.

Good god. This really begs the question of why 8 and 12 year olds want to die. I know in my case it was because I was constantly harrassed, taunted, teased and abused. As a society we really need to come to terms with how we allow kids to treat each other and that adults often sit idly by while kids abuse kids. It's not right.

You hit the nail on the head, the boy in 8th grade..he killed himself, because he was bullied at school, to the point he could no longer take it! That saddens me! Being a parent myself, I have tried to teach my kids that words can hurt, and that they should never tease or bully another child! Because what may seem like harmless words, can be crushing to another!

My world was destruction and darkness. My only light was music and when you hear people say that Prince's music saved their life, in my case it is literally true. If I didn't have my music I wouldn't have had anything to truly live for. Thankfully God gave me the strength to make it through and I am now in a position to help affect change for the younger gay generation.

I know there are more than a few people here willing to help and talk, but here are some links to trained people who may be able to help as well.

Actually I've heard of another friend of mine who killed herself. we were actually close in high school.
So that makes 2 people.

My friend in the army though was sexually molested by his father as a child. He blocked it out completely, until one day something triggered his memory and the fight began. His family did not stand by him. The fight was too tough since he was fighting it alone, even his mother did not help. so he eventually got to his mother's home and hung himself in her kitchen. She found him in the morning. sad

I had many thoughts on suicide in the past. I often feel like my life was wasted. But then I think of the pain it would cause my family, and all the tears it might cause between them, that I always give it another try.

see, that's the thing though...how do you even admit something like that when so many people consider it to be attention seeking?
