My Crazy Love Life -- update for the interested. . .

People here who have known me over the last ten years seriously must think I'm nuts. lol

So, a year after my "I'm In Love With A Coworker" thread, and a few months after lots of drama and a short breakup (don't have that link, sorry lol), the woman asked me to marry her. We're looking for a place together.

Some things just kinda clicked for her. . .would be hard to explain here, but basically, she's a person who believes in personal growth, and is willing to do something about it, and so we've both grown into people who really want to be together and stay together.

It was precious. . .she handed me a rose, sang me a song ("One And Only", by Teitur), gave me an beautifully written card, and a gold band with pretty little diamonds and emeralds. We were at the beach (Seaside, OR) for the weekend, so we had lots of lovely walks and talks, and we're very excited. This weekend she's buying me a wood kayak to match hers (an incredible gesture, as she doesn't make much money), and we're looking at houses.

It's feeling kinda fairy-tale right now. I'm sure we'll have hard times again, but I think we can approach them with renewed faith and energy. heart

Thank you to all of you who have given advice and been so supportive of me. I marvel at my friendships here. A bunch of you will be getting wedding invitations, for sure (though you might have to travel to Canada, since the redneck agenda still rules in these parts . . .please don't vote Republican, thanks!). grouphug

Very awesome mushy

I wish you all of the happiness in the world together. rose

No worries about voting Republican- even if I still lived in the states for the next election- that would NOT happen.

Much love hug

I was gonna ask the same, cause I'm gonna have to carve it into my travels schedule.

Of course, that's awfully presumptuos (or however that's spelled) of me I know. redface

Maybe it's from previous emotion-wrenching events in my week, but your words made me cry. heart This is so wonderful, Melissa. I am so incredibly happy for you both, and I am sending all sorts of positive energy your way right now. It's so great to hear that this is happening for you. Suck the feelings in and never let them go. This is a sensation to remember forever, and the feelings don't ever have to fade!

We don't know.

First of all, I have to get divorced. boxed

See, this is where the people who know me laugh, and the ones who don't go whofarted. lol

Martin and I are both lazy fuckers who don't care that we're married (never really have) and haven't felt like dealing with the paperwork and expense. Now I for real have to deal with it, even just for a Washington domestic partnership. We suck. I hate being a grownup. rolleyes

The other thing is, we're going to have to decide whether we are going to wait around and attempt some kind of legal status in Massachusetts, or Canada, or whatever. I don't expect WA to take forever and ever to legalize gay marriage, but. . .probably a few years.

So, yeah. I'm guessing next spring or summer sometime in WA or OR, w/o legal recognition, but we'll see. I will certainly let you know. hug

You know what sucks about the queer thing? There are a bunch of people I don't really feel like telling, because as INCREDIBLY supportive as they are, I don't think they'll see it as "real". sigh

My family. . .my two best friends. . . they don't know about it yet. confused

Most of my friends here are fags or hags, so I know you get it, but. . . I know the rest of 'em won't react to this like they would if I were marrying a man, and that sucks, so I don't feel like telling them. pout

I'm still happy, though. rainbow
