Today was a real bad day.

I had a block of time mid day and decided to use it for cardio at the gym....

Our 24 hour fitness is gigantic.. with the pool enclosed in clear glass and surrounded by the cardio floor and the weight room on one flank.

Today a gentlemen used the pool and ended up on the bottom. No one saw it for God knows how long. He drowned.... unless a heartattack got him first maybe?
A flood of police and emergency crews came and tried to bring him back. They worked on him for a good 30 minutes... ( As timed by my machine) As I entered they were using paddles on him. I prayed but in my heart I just felt it was already decided as my eyes crossed the scene. I saw the event as I selected my usual row over looking the pool area.. My heart couldnt take it... I shifted to a row blocked by the wall... Then heard another guy saying he was so blue it is not known how long he had been down there... So after 30 minutes they brought the body past me... I noticed the same gentlemen working out to days earlier... He was working hard and his body was hard like a sumo... but with the mass he carried in his middle I thought he was working it to hard.... ( You know just a random thought through my mine) His limbs were fit as a fiddle but his belly was taught but appeared in late term pregnancy... ) He appeared like a 6'4 maffia boss.

Anyway, a bit later the police ordered all the men that had a locker to the locker rooms so they could figure out which is his. ( Clever I thought..) After a short while I saw the police moving to the front podeum and the girl asked Michael Anthony C..... to come to the front.... He of course did not.... They gathered his things and left..... ( After the young lady went through the computer and gave them address and such sort info.... )

My personal observations:

People saw I was visibly shaken and fought back tears often nearing loosing it as the body passed... They affored me privacy in the public place. Casting their looks away... There was however a growing crowd of gawkers on the other wall.... No one person can know what is on their minds but their appearance was of chatty careless observation and not of any concern or fear or depth.... It disturbed me.

My personal feelings:

The man was dying in such a public way.... Dear God people if you are not there to help and or trying to offer up prayer or the like... fuck off already... Granted, I can not know what was going through there minds... and in my gut I feel he had already long left this realm.. but it disturbes me . Its like when 2 random individuals are beating each other to a bloody pulp and onlookers cheer and gawk. S I C K !

My actions: I completed my work out... Partly because i dont want to end up like him and partly because my adrinalen (sp) was running so high it was a releasing course!

closing thoughts:

Had I been 33 minutes later I would have never known

Had I been 33 minutes earlier I may have seen the situation and made a difference

Entirely depressed me.

Life is as should be and at the end of the day, time is fleeting... it stands still for no one ... we all need to use ours more wisely...

Vent over... Just needed to get all that out!

It is really hard when you experience such a thing in your personal space. And I know how you feel about people being callous. Once on the train someone walked in front of it to commit suicide and people basically cursed that person to hell for making them late confused Well I didn't exactly like the idea of being delayed either but it was just nothing to many of those people and someone had just died.....

When I was 16 there was a little girl that was visiting a family across the street. Her mother came looking for her and all the kids set out to search the neighborhood. She was 3 years old. I instructed some of the kids to check the pool. She was not there. We continued looking and after a bit the parents went to the major street to see if she wandered down there.

A few minutes after they left I heard a blood curdling scream and when we came out of our house the neighbor was coming through her garage with the little girl in her hands and they were both dripping wet. My stepdad tried to revive her and got no response and the paramedics came and tried working on her but she was not coming back. Her mom came in the middle of all that and was asking if anyone had seen her baby and her friend was crying and telling her how sorry she was and she even looked down at her baby and walked off asking if anyone had seen her. I have never seen denial like that. She turned the corner and fell to the ground in screams. to this day I feel the weight of not checking that pool myself.

Through this experience, know you are loved and that I appreciate that you are in my life. I'm sorry you experienced that. Use it to reflect on the important things in life hug

Wow! What an experience!
Did he seem like a 'roid head?
There are many seemingly-fit people dying from heart conditions nowadays, thanks to anabolic steroids.
Just last month, my neighbor's 35 year old son, the picture of health (muscles & all), died in his sleep.
Either he started doing (recreational) drugs & got carried away...or the steroids finally got to him.

People don't care other than to be amused. I see this when people rubberneck on the highway after a bad accident.

But you couldn't have helped what happened. It reveals much about you that it affected you this way. hug

Gets better, my daughter calls and announces her father is getting married August 31... in the same place he married me.... she was frantic as she for one has had her daddy all to herself all this time and 2 as she has a stiff 4300.00 schedule... that ends 24 hours before his impending nuptials.

Finally grow a pair and communicate! Gees!

My children are in the middle of this dinner and my daughter snuck off to the bathroom to call me... I hope my son is ok...

Ahhhhh hes a good dad.. Just couldnt tell me I suppose... I would have like to have had the heads up.... My daughter I warned it must be coming.... SHe brought back most her things here instead of his new house... Son should be ok... but will have to check.. I have them this weekend... since his new wife is 35 and childless... one would think they will have another... She is racked as she has been daddys little girl for 16 1/2 years... and feels in essence while she is off to collage she is replaced... etc....

Luckily my intuition kicked in and I have schooled her in the meantim..

I texted.. are you ok? She hasnt answered... Long night ahead...
