Girl's Feet Severed on Ride at Six Flags

I will never, ever go on one of those free-fall thrill rides. That poor girl.

Anxiety

OH MY GOD eek

that is HORRIFIC

seriously, this is the stuff i get all paranoid about at amusement parks. when i get scared, it's more about the rides going haywire than any kind of "fun" fear. disbelief

Yikes!! This is going to sound totally gross, but hopefully they can find her feet and sew them back on. I've heard of people getting a cut-off finger sewed on, I'm hoping they can do the same for this poor girl. How awful! Can you imagine going on a ride, thinking it's going to be fun. The ride ends, and you come to realize that your feet are cut off? It would be terrible!
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I love amusement park rides but things like this make me think 3000 times. At my local amusement park GREAT AMERICA there have been 3 deaths on rollercoasters, that I can remember. One of them was on a ride exactly like the ride mentioned in this news report.

That is beyond horrific! That poor girl! sad

I love big scary rides, but after hearing stories like this, it makes me want to stick to the tamer ones. I really don't trust the rides they set up at carnivals, because they look so rickety.

I saw this on the news. I wonder if they were able to attach them again. I hope so, because that would really bad to make through life with missing parts.....one of my worst fears. I've been on those free fall rides before.....I guess I'll be thinking of what happened now. I think they should've closed the whole park down.

thats just tragic.

http://news.enquirer.com/...3/70622001

When you think about if these things are safe or not there was a stat in this article that puts things in perspective.

>>>According to the association, 1,713 injuries occurred on rides in 2005, when more than 300 million park visitors took 1.8 billion rides. Of those, 132 required overnight treatment in a hospital.
<<<

The odds are overwhellingly in your favor but still makes you think.

It appears at the time of the printing of the article that she was in "surgery"

I can only hope it was to reattach the legs, though I doubt the road to recovery, what ever that entails here, will be easy.

Tragic.

And scary.

I'm a huge thrill ride fan.

I HATE that ride. That ride in particular has had more accidents than the others. I have never gotten on it because I am not that fond of free fall rides.

I get that from temporary carnival rides. Probably because they get assembled and reassembled all the time.

Probably the scariest ride I have seen was at Burning Man. It looks like a simple coaster, but you're in a cage the flips around (I hate those anyway) and as you swing to the other side, flames shoot up at you that you can feel the heat of.

I've neve gone in but I can see it now, as I am screaming and flipping one of the flames catches me on fire. So I'm on fire in the cage and screaming and no one knows I'm on fire cuz they're all high and screaming/laughing themselves. Not good times.
