personal trainers

So I've been thinking, kinda superficially, about going to school to be a personal trainer. I'd get in great shape and then be certified in something to get a decent-paying, yet really flexible second job.

Is anyone on the org a personal trainer? I don't know any. lol If so, what do you like best about it?

Can anyone actually see me being a personal trainer? giggle I'm not sure I'd be good at it either.

You'd make a good personal trainer becuase you're patient with people, but direct when you need to be.

I want to be one as well. My friend Colleen who has the most incredible body (she's 41 and looks like she has the body of a 20 year old) wants to be one too.

We're thinking of going in it together to form a company and see where it grows.

I really really want to get away from employment and start being an entrepreneur. But more importantly, I want to make a difference in people's lives.

Plus, I want to have my nice bubble butt back. That shit was hot at one time. ky

I don't see this being something I'd do full time, but it seems something easy to kinda freelance with. And spending 6 months focusing on everything would be damn good for me. I've been looking it up and tuition (as long as I can get a loan, which I can) is quite reasonable. And there are programs that are only 2 nights a week! yay!

1sexymf is (or has been) a personal trainer.

Harder than it looks. A good one is up on all the latest science.

Does one need the ability to "drop science on yo ass" to fulfill the requirements of a training job?

I don't know what sport science is. And I have no interest in sports. This is more of personal fitness training.

In Holland you would not be allowed to be a teacher without the proper Physical Science degree.

ahhhhh... yeah, no. This is simply a 6 month certification program and away you go. Depending on how far you want to take it, then I'd imagine it would be largely beneficial to have the further education. But to coach someone on how to eat better and exercise, lead classes, etc. you need only pass the certification tests.

I used to work for a large family-owned company that had a gym in the building where I worked. So 3 times a week, the big-shots would have a trainer come in at lunchtime to train them.

The dude was jacked. You could tell that he practiced what he preached. All the secretaries had a crush on him, ...and he drove a Grand Cherokee in the winter, and a Porsche in the Summer.

I SO wanted to quit my crappy job and become a trainer!
