what makes you stay at your job--perks or pay?

for me it's PERKS--i'm actually probably slightly under market value in payscale, but after 10 years i can pretty much come and go as i please, with some 90 minute lunches and 6 hour work shifts each week. i couldn't pull that with a new company, so i would realistically have to ask for a $10,000 raise to consider leaving for a new job--anything less than like $250 a week increase wouldn't make sense to me wink

Right now, it's perks. In the past it was the pay.

What makes me stay at my job?

The fact that there is only one hospital in my town and if I worked there my husband would be my manager.

So I drive an hour each way to a job with good pay and benefits.

Both. But I'm becoming tired and jaded. I want to retire and write cookbooks and travel articles, in a little stone house in the countryside...

I love what I do. If i did what i do for the pay I would not be a happy camper. I make an impact on lives. So its good stuff.

Sad as this may sound, the day they remove internet access is the day I walk straight outta here. It would be like waking up outside of The Matrix or something eek

pay. i get no perks. my pay is semi-decent enough to support the life i want to lead, and i hate going through the rigamorole of looking for a new job...though sometimes one has to face the rigamorole sooner or later. lol

I think that day will be coming sooner than later. neutral

I have just found out - today - that, as of Monday, my Team is moving desks. Meaning anyone who walks past can see when I'm on the Org. Plus, as if that wasn't annoying enough, I am sitting face to face, across a divide, from two senior Managers. neutral

bawl

I really am not happy about this. pissed The last time it happened, I wasn't able to get on the Org properly for 3 months.

Pathetic as it is, I feel like crying. sigh

Perks. I've been at my job since 1993, so I have a lot of seniority, nobody bothers me, I have complete artistic freedom, plus we have great health and dental benefits. Not many companies offer dental, because of the price tag. Without it, I would have had to shell out thousands of bucks for the surgeries I needed the past few years.

experience and connections...

doing resource development for the public hospital and the county health department...I get to see how the $$$ flows.

plus any medical needs, we can go to the public hospital....for only a $20 co-pay.....labs, surgeries, etc paid 100% eek

Funny how a lot of the women here go to their private docs but schedule the deliveries there because its 100% paid.
