Americans! We are getting shorter! As some of you may or may have not seen the news it appears that Americans are getting shorter compared to people in other countries. Anyone else have more info on this? I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

I saw this news on the TV. I think they mentioned that it could be due to our eating habbits. I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the Mexicans I see here now seem to be a bit smaller in stature than Americans. Same with Asians, etc. Are they counted in the census? Maybe they'll decrease the overall obesity count too!  | |

The key is "compared to people in other countries." It isn't that Americans are getting shorter, people in other countries are getting taller -- a result of increased food availability and caloric intake in countries that have been impoverished up 'til now. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. | |
