Ex-Moderator | Actually, now that I've thought about it, I realize I've eaten dinner out alone loads of times. Particularly when traveling alone. I just bring a book with me. But I wouldn't do it at a TGI Fridays. I'm more of a hole in the wall asian or neighborhood restaurant type. There's always people eating alone there. |

Very unusual... Well I have always had someone to go out with. When I am alone I usually just fix something for myself light and do not bother going out. I enjoy eating with others when I go out to dine. I have gone to a movie by myself. That was fun.

They're soup and salad combo is good ok? I now have to carry my favorite ringtone with me around to make me feel more adequate when I dine alone. http://www.danonderdonk.c...sballs.mp3

Are you a quirkyalone? Melissa sent me a book about it all this weekend. Apparently there's a name for us. lol. Quirkyalone: noun/adj. A person who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than dating for the sake of being in a couple. With unique traits and an optimistic spirit; a sensibility that transcends relationship status. See also quirkytogether, perkytogether, quirkyslut. What is with the constant need for us all to be categorized? I don't know--relationships make me nervous, so yeah, I guess it's somewhat appropriate. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I have travelled the world on my own on business. Dined out with clients, sometimes I wish to be on my own.
So choice between ordering room service and eating out on my own? Hell, I prefer to get dressed up, go out somewhere random, eat on my own (there are business ppl out there eating alone - nothing to be ashamed of) and enjoy myself Most times I meet up with others and end up joining them in drinks or other times have mad nights going to some random nightclub and partying my socks off I wouldnt have that, had I stayed in my hotel room, so I opt for the eating alone lifestyle when I AM ALONE Doesnt last long, I can promise you I will love you forever and you will never be forgotten - L.A.F.

How quirkyalone are you? http://www.quirkyalone.net/qa/quiz.php
Your score was 114. Very quirkyalone: Relatives may give you quizzical looks, and so may friends, but you know in your heart of hearts that you are following your inner voice. Though you may not be romancing a single person, you are romancing the world. Celebrate your freedom on National Quirkyalone Day, February 14th! Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I find people who dine out/go out/ etc alone really cool. I once had a male friend, and he took so much time to get dress etc. before he went out. He put so much effort into it, to get into mood, and he even didnt know where he would go out to. He always met the most cool people when he was out, and he always found the best places to go out.
To put it simply, he loved going out alone, and always said it was the most stylish thing to do. Prince I will always miss and love U.

Your score was 78. Somewhat quirkyalone (otherwise known as quirkytogether):
You are probably part of a mysterious group of people, the quirkytogethers. You share many of our quirky qualities, but you manage to find yourself, on a regular basis, in a coupled situation. Interesting. My Legacy

This discussion reminds me of the scene from "The Lonely Guy" when Steve Martin dines alone in a busy and rather upscale restaurant.
After Steve informs the maitre d' he needs only a table for one, the other patrons in the restaurant instantly fall silent and focus all their attention on Steve while the maitre d' leads him to his table underneath the glare of a giant spotlight. Then, after he is seated, a group of waiters appear and noisily clear his table of the unnecessary extra place settings while everyone contines staring. Finally Steve requests the maitre d' to please have his fellow diners go back to talking. It's a brilliant scene. Dining alone used to make me uncomfortable but, as I've grown older, it really doesn't anymore. Truth is, oftentimes I find it's more relaxing to eat alone than with dining companions as then I don't have to worry so much about manners or making interesting conversation.
