No Wild at Heart?

Is that the one with Laura Dern, IIRC?

Yes. Directed by David Lynch.

The last movie I saw was "Glen or Glenda" but I couldn't possibly give it one rating. On the one hand it is terrible filmmaking, on the other hand it's unique and a real milestone in the history of film.

I used Radio Paradise's rating chart to rate mine:

Someone is Watching: star star star star star out of 10

Dead Silent: star star star star out of 10

The Head: star star star 1/2 out of 10

The first two are cheap dvds I found that could possibly be Lifetime movies. redface I like Lifetime's old movies so I knew what I was in for. Lifetime's movies these days aren't good like they used to be though.....now they're predominately inspirational & romance types. I miss the murder/suspense dramas. "The Head" is a part of a 4 disc set w/ 20 retro sci-fi movies I found for $6. It's beyond B movie. These movies could really improve the sound quality, but I guess for $6, there were bound to be cons. None of them had subtitles either. I love keeping closed captioning on whenever I watch t.v or dvds. It drives others crazy though lol

THE HILLS HAVE EYES.

I i give it a four (horror film wise) because it was suspenseful and had me stressed out and jumpy throughout the whole movie. Even though it was STUPID it WAS a horror movie....so yeah. PLUS....getting raped by a mutated scar face.....SCARY.

RUNNING WITH SCISSORS

I give it a three. Low budget movies are always a plus for me. Plus the family in it kinda reminded me of my fam....but it kinda drug out a little.

SCREAM II

Watched it on TV for the gazillionth time last night. It gets FIVE STARS!!!! Cuz I don't care what you say.....the SCREAM movies rock. biggrin

I'm doin' Four.

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASACRE ( the biggining or whatever the fuck it was called)

I give 4 stars. It was too short and not a thick enough plot, but it was twisted and scary, so that was good.

Running With Scissors is low budget? eek You don't even wanna watch the shitty movies I watch then lol That man who played Doug in the remake of HHE looks completely different with glasses and a beard. I didn't recognize him at first.

Well, I just download all my movies illegally, so most of the stuff I watch isn't currently in the theatres.

Student Bodies. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083133/

out of five.

I liked it. It wasn't all that funny but at least it wasn't just gross-out humour like most modern-day spoof films. I have an obsession with slasher flicks from the late 70s and early 80s. It was an enjoyable waste of 80 minutes or so.

Music And Lyrics http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758766/

out of five.

Okay, I turned this off after 30 minutes. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a rom-com. It just seemed to drag. It was all too predictable. I mean, I like predictability in chick-flicks like this - you need it. But there wasn't really any discernible sub-plot developing to hold my attention.

Notes On A Scandal http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465551/

out of five.

I loved this. I'm unsure why I loved it so much - I mean it hardly keeps you in suspense and you could sum up the story in two sentences. But it just felt very real. It felt embarrassingly real, like over-hearing a conversation in a restaurant and being unable to stop listening.

What made this film so good to me was the performances. Like you said, the story was predictable even if you had never seen the trailer which basically gave away the entire movie except for the last ten minutes. Judi and Cate made the film worth seeing.

Dame Judy Dench and Kate Blanchett can do no wrong in my book.
Loved the movie. I had to take a bath after.

lol

My friends and I have another rating system.

1) See it at the theater. - great must be seen
2) See a matinee.- it was okay but don't pay full price
3) Rent it. - it was good but no urgency
4) Download it. - bad, only if you're curious.
5) Don't even think about it.

cool I like matinees for when I'm too cheap or don't wanna be bothered by a huge crowd regardless of how good I think a movie is. Usually if it's a serious movie, I prefer less people in the theater.

I saw a DVD section at the dollar store recently. Mostly old stuff, but probably worth a look.

I just finished:

Casino Royale starstarstarstar This is about as good a Bond film as I can remember. Maybe that's not saying too much, and this wasn't a "great film," but it did it's job extrememly well.

I knew Daniel Craig would be good, but I didn't know how good the movie would be. It's basically an action movie, and Bond barely speaks for the first hour, but the tone has been drastically changed from the last few (a la Batman Begins). Pierce Brosnan may have seemed the perfect Bond, but his portrayal (as well as the filmmakers') was of a smirky & soft pretty boy who didn't believe that any of the threats were real himself, and just thought explosions, girls, gadgets, hair spray, and worn out lines were enough to make a movie.

This Bond has feelings, (or he would if it was allowed in his profession) and even though much of what happens is ridiculous, the reactions are genuine and the the audience's intelligence doesn't have to take a back seat. Rather than simply wait for the next moment I'd say "oh what a bunch of shit" I found myself thinking that the impossible was possible, at least in that world. The little dialog was convincing, as well.

I agree. I don't even watch Bond flicks very often anymore, but this one was surprisingly good. Daniel Craig is hot as fuck, too.
