It worked a charm.

My particular brand of hypnosis came from a method of past-life regression used in "many lives, many masters"...

To me the deepest cause for smoking addiction is neurosis. Yes, we get hooked physically, but I think the most attractive thing about smoking is it keeps us occupied. Doing nothing is doing nothing, but smoking immediately gives us purpose.

For some reason it's very hard to not be doing something. Even if it's very small. Like Jerry Seinfeld said, if he was a nudist he'd still need pockets to put his hands into.

Why is it so uncomfortable to just be?

Once I started to recognize this trap with relation to smoking it became easier to not do it. I started thinking about how it felt to want to smoke, and what was really so bad about not smoking afterall?

When I was honest with myself I realized it was much better to not be smoking because smoking made me feel horrible. And I assured myself it was okay to just be and not have to be doing this neurotic action of smoking.

I gave up last night (I was on 30 Marlboro a day)- and then I see this thread! Smokin'!! smile

I'm using the nicotine inhalers - they're more like smoking than any of the other replacements.
There are downsides - you can 'smoke' then anywhere, so you might have a hard time giving the replacements up.
And they look like you're sucking on a tampon. Not a good look.

It's so pathetic, too, most people I know who smoke(d) started as a joke when they were drunk

"Look at me I'm smoking!! smile "

and before they knew it they were smokers!

I had a friend that started when she was 28. Um, aren't you way past the peer pressure stage? lol How ridiculous to start so late.

It's not the peer pressure at that point. It's kind of a reaction to the propaganda about smoking that you hear all your life.

Like a joke, running with scissors, or swimming after eating, you're saying "look how dangerous and rebellious I am hahaha" because, let's face it, one cigarette at a party can't kill you.

And you get hooked!

I had a friend who said you could be doing anything and justify it by saying you're smoking. Like you could be sitting on a roof or hanging out of a window or standing in the rain, and say "I'm smoking"

Also, I see people say something and sudenly look uncomfortable and light up. It's as if the cigarette deflects the attention from them & what they just said.

I don't take breaks at work if I don't smoke. I don't know what to do with myself. lol

I don't really go out clubbing much regularly any more but when I was younger if I went out alone or was waiting to meet people I always felt better with a cigarette in my hand. I couldn't take standing around by myself without something to do.

Everyone I know that has tried it has stopped with no cheats. They don't have the desire to smoke and the side effects seems minimal.

I plan to take it right before I go on vacation. That way the habits and routine aren't there.
