Stop the Planet of Smokers, I Wanna Get Off! I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I tried the patch but I felt like I was gonna have a heart attack. The nicotine gum tasted like shit. I've quit cold turkey, but only made it three and four months, respectively.
Is cold turkey the best? Or is there some other method I should try? I am so over this.

I think I quit about 13 or 14 times before finally trying hypnosis.
It worked a charm. My particular brand of hypnosis came from a method of past-life regression used in "many lives, many masters"... ... while i am somewhat skeptical about having past lives, i am definitely not skeptical about the power of suggestion and the ability to remember ANYTHING if you truly want to.... including how to remember what it was like for you BEFORE you smoked... and to basically stay in that mind state for the rest of your life... ..so i do recommend trying hypnosis and also reading any alan carr books... he knows what this smoking crap is all about, pretty much.

You need to get ALL the nicotene out of your system before you will have any success.

I just heard a commercial for this on the radio. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

For me, cold turkey is the only thing that worked. Everything else just reinforces your need for nicotine.
It's not that hard once you get past a certain point. I got a head start by getting sick and quitting for 3 days because of that, then just not starting again. My Legacy

It was unbelievable! I've been smoking ultra lights for years now! I switched with the idea of weening myself off the stuff. I'm pathetic. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

You might want to consider your love of caffeine, too. It goes so well with cigarettes, they may reinforce each other. Caffeine makes you nervous and then you need a cigarette.
Also alcohol, of course. Don't get too drunk for a while. My Legacy

One thing that makes it a little tougher is my friend and roommate smokes. So, it's always around me. It's like being a drunk and working at a bar.
Hey, Sam did it! | |

But I get awful headaches if I cut out caffeine. I didn't have to give up caffeine, but I know they go really well together. It's tough to get started, the only way is to be strong and not smoke. Once the decision is made it's actually very easy. Think of it as being lazy. It's easier to not do something than to do it. Laziness is where I excel! My Legacy

Hey, Sam did it! My girlfriend smokes, but she's nice enough to do it outside now. I can be around it, but sometimes I feel myself picking up the cigarette and lighting it in my mind. That's the hard part, the automatic nature of it. Also remember, whatever they say, they want to quit too. They would envy you for quitting. My Legacy

He smokes like half a pack of ultra lights a day. They're like smoking cigarett-scented air.

Don't go back to it! You are my rock of hope. Oh no. TRUST ME, I WON'T! I wouldn't be so stupid....cigarettes have gone up ATLEAST a dollar a pck since I quit....my clothes and hair don't stink. I don't have to fear cancer (as much). Its a crazy habit. I know its hard to quit...but trust me, it IS possible.

I quit about 7 or 8 years ago now I believe.
I did it cold turkey. First few weeks sucked ass. But then it got easier. Now I'm grossed out by it. When I was in Europe, I kept getting nauseated because you can smoke just about anywhere in some of the countries there. Cold turkey is the way to go. It won't be fun, but you can do it. I have no will power, and I managed to do it.

Yeah, I went back to it just having a puff off of someone's! Then a half, then Allison goes on vacation and I buy a pack! Then I'm smoking again. All I get now is secondhand smoke! No puffs, not even when I'm drunk. My Legacy
