Can anyone recommend a good digital camera? What do you think of the canon sd1000? Do any of them have a timer...just in case you want to take a pic of yourself far away? I also would like to record video. Thanks.

Well, I've had experience with 3 Mavica models, and they were all great. It's mostly because of the Karl Zeizz lenses they have.

You can get it for between 500 and 600 US dollars.

I paid well over 800 bucks for mine, so that's a significant savings. You can't find a DSLR with that kind of quality at those prices--it's only about 100 bucks more than a high end compact camera.

For ease of use, you cant go wrong with a Casio. It all depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend. Look for something thats around 6 or 7 megapixels. Maybe also one with a video option that has sound.

Canon's are the best camera's that you could ever buy.

I have a Canon Powershot SD750 with the 3" LCD screen and I just love it. It's light and compact with a big ass screen.

I still don't own a digital camera.


I don't want to waste my money on a marginal product since my 35mm camera is just fine (it cost $200 eight years ago, so I'm getting my money's worth!). When I buy a digital, I want a GOOD one (ok...maybe not too good...about $500 or so).

Hopefully before I go on vacation I'll be able to buy a decent one.
