In Living Color -vs- Chappelle's Show

Which sketch show was better (in it's time)
IN LIVING COLOR OR CHAPPELLE'S SHOW

When In Living Color was in in peak, (early 90's) I was very young and seldom remember the show besides the last season. Chappelle's Show was my high school years and I watched on the regular. You couldn't go a day with put someone screamin' "I'm Rick James Bitch!" or "What?" down the hall.

So when In Living Color was in it's hey-day, were people at school or anywhere for that matter screaming "Hated It" or "Homey Don't Play That" or "Let Me Show You Something?"

HIGH SCHOOL??? Chappelle in HIGH SCHOOL? I'm not playing agism...but how could you possibly understand the humor of in Living Color? I was in high school during Living Color. CHappelle in my 20's. Chappelle's comedy was political and socially aware...just not sure about your perspective...unless you came of age in the 90's? maybe???? I'm just not sure...

No contest. Chappelle all the way.

It was smart, cutting and brash yet dignified even in its self-lampooning. And it was hilarious.

In Living Color tried too hard with gags that were too gimicky, low-brow and often just buffoonish, IMO. It was no better to me than MAD. shrug

You are right. Chappelle was much more "intelligent". The Wayans were a little over the top with it.

But dammit...I loved some damn Frenchie! Why y'all being all coupe deville?

Man, y'all are underrating ILC.

I'd take Anton Jacksons over Tyrone Biggums. Theeir music video parodies are untouched, nobody could do a parody like In Living Color could.

Then you have; Homey D. Clown, Wanda, Head Detective, Vere de Milo, Homeboy Shopping Network, Snack N' Shack, Carl "the Tooth" Williams, the already mentioned Frenchie. Just so many to name.

"PRINCE GOTTA HAIRY BOOTY!!!!" lol Yeah, I think I'd have to pick "In Living Color" over "The Chappelle's Show" because....too much nostalgia involved for me not to. cool Not to mention that "In Living Color" contained more seasons of "Funny" ("OR", of just plain running on television for that matter) than "The Chappelle's Show". He was starting to fall flat during the aforementioned third season that never got finished.

Oh, and I've got just one more thing to add. Did "FOX" fuck up the "DVD" releases of "In Living Color" or what? I hadn't seen that much "cutting" since those horribly ghetto and lazally (Don't know if that's a word, but you get the picture) edited "Blaxploitation Films". For those who watched "MadTV" until right before they let people like "Debra Wilson" and "Aries Spears" (What a cocky cunt he is. Though he is funny) go, you'd know know what I was talking about. Just check out the skits whenever they'd have "Funkenstein" (A Black version of "Frankenstein". "NOT" the "ORG Member", here) played by "Jordan Peele" (The only time when he's even remotely funny). It's always fnny when they mention "Saul Turtletaub". He must have been the pioneer of those whack movies. Only thing good to come out of them is "Shaft" and the series of movies starring the lovely, voluptious "Pam Grier". She's attractive, even to this day.

Yeah, they didn't want to pay for the right to the music video spoofs. They are cut out on seasons 2-5 but are on season 1.

I enjoy both equally.....they both have their funny assed moments.....ILC will always have it over DC for "Men on Film" and "Wanda"....

...then again, "When Keepin' it Real goes wrong" and Charlie Murphy keep it close....I crib quotes and catch phrases from each....
