My mom used to buy condensed milk (Magnolia brand) and we used to pour some between two loaves of bread! How's about white rice with ketchup? Isn't THAT ghetto? I love that condensed milk. My brother and I used to eat it by itself, straight from the can whenever our mom would have some left over from baking cakes. I haven't tried the kind by Magnolia, but I've had their caramel spread before. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I just made my mom send me a big envelope of orange Kool Aid from the U.S.!! We don't have a lot of sugarless drinks in Germany (only Coke, Pepsi, and Sprite), and every once in a while I get SICK of drinking damned mineral water ALL DAY . ...but if that makes me ghetto, then o'tay den !

I remember drinking Kool Aid out of mason jars
We always kept mayonaise and jelly jars and used them later "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Though I do miss the early 80's when Hills and other department stores had racks filled with "Beat-It" and "Thriller" jackets. OMG, I'd love to see the knock-off MJ jackets... I'm sure DavidEye/SoulAlive said he used to have one as a kid. When I was growing up, I knew nothing about fashion/labels/brands/stuff like that - I still don't ; I was always a bit behind the kids that way. I remember my mother buying me these rip-off Adidas trainers called 'Barcelona'. *I* loved them but the other kids all took the mick so I begged her to get me some decent ones. And it took me about a YEAR for her to get me a Puma holdall - she would've had me using shopping bags, I'm sure. . [Edited 6/18/07 4:07am]

Purplesaurex Rex was a staple in our house. I'm sad it didn't last forever though. I don't really care for the tropical punch, but the orange one is another good one. My all time favorite is Ice Blue.....oh my god anything blue raspberry. At one point they had so many different kinds, even clear ones that were flavored. I remember girls in middle school using kool-aid to dye their hair with. We used to mix Kool-Aid packets with just sugar and sell it as candy at school too.....like pixie sticks candy. It was good as hell though. I might have to make some soon to reminiscence. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

All this love for Spam and NO love for scrapple?! C'mon ya'll... That sh*t's worse than spam. But I'll admit it WAS good with grits and eggs. Anyone remember the butter and sugar sandwiches, 25 cent pickles from the store, Now and Laters, pickled eggs in that big ass jar in the store that no one ate? "I ordered no broth! When I had my children, I made a promise they would never drink it. One day my husband brought it home from the grocery store and I was livid! I made a pitcher because I was taught to never waste anything especially food. Needless to say I gave it to my kids and they were acting like it was liquid gold! It taught me a lesson. Children are all the same. Whether living in the ghetto or in a well to do suburb, they all love Kool Aid.
