I do think he was tired of the PeeWee persona, but there are plenty of directors that would have jumped at the opportunity to cast him in seedy movie roles, which alone would have been scandalous enough to boost movie ratings. I think he just he fucked up and got caught. But the guy got caught in an adult movie theatre jacking off--- I say, so the fuck what? It wasn't like he got caught jacking off at The Kiddie Land of Dragons in Busch Gardens or some shit. 
Why they hell he chose to do it in a Sarasotta Adult threatre baffles me. Tampa has far more adult movie theatres than any city in Florida combined, and Joe Redner would have offered PeeWee his own theatre named "PeeWee's Playhouse" for 50% of the profits. Hell, if that happenned, Redner would be Mayor of Tampa by now. | |

Oy, there's no accounting for taste. I worked at Priscilla's, and adult boutique, off of Dale Mabry in Tampa, and our competition was intense. Tampa has by far, the best adult venues in Florida or anywhere in the South East. Why the hell Pee Wee chose Sarasotta is beyond me. | |

maybe not true, but plausible. In way, you can't help but feel sorry for Paul.  I feel sorry for him, too. Give the guy a break. We all go through physical changes as we age, so it's natural that he isn't as slim-looking as he used to be. It can't just be ignored, though, so I hope they'll work it into the Playhouse Movie storyline somehow.
As for the infamous scandal, whether it was purposely done by Paul to distance himself from the Pee-wee persona or not, it was a sad moment in his career that we should forgive and move on from... I, for one, am psyched...PEE-WEE IS BACK!!!!  [Edited 6/16/07 11:21am] | |
