It's so funny that tourists really care about that "Sound of Music" stuff. When I was in Trinidad recently a local guy told me that he and his daughter are such huge fans of it. I was like WTF, nobody and I mean really nobody here in Austria cares about it at all. Why is this thing so damn popular all over the world, I will never get it shrug.
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Whenever it gets you down just think of things that will make you better.

Like raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens,
presents tied up in bows and warm woolen mittens,
or silver white geese that fly with the moon on their wings.
These are a few of my favorite things pray

See we Austrians actually have no idea what's it really like at all. I am sure nearly everybody here under the age of 30 has never even heard about it nod.
And who are Rogers and Hammerstein? Are they composers hmmm?

We should totally get a small group to do a Salzburg mini-invasion.

I didn't get a chance to see much of Halstatt or the Ice Caves. So I would totally be up for another trip! woot!

And who are Rogers and Hammerstein? Are they composers hmmm?

They are very talented composers, on par with Cole Porter (in my opinion), and their songs are loved around the world.

The history of why the Sound of Music doesn't jive well with Austrians is fully explained in the tour, and makes perfect sense. The American version is based off a a musical play and is not true to the original story, which was a very German story and not nearly as upbeat. The Sound of Music is viewed largely by Austrians as a mockery of the original vision--and rightfully so.

But it's still great fun music

Yes, music & lyrics, respectively

For some reason it's a very popular movie. I've seen it a bunch of times and I don't even like it. My high school also put on the play.

oh, did I mention how expensive Salzburg was?

I had laundry service done on my clothes at the Sheretan (2 pair of jeans, 6 pair of underwear, 4 tshirts, and 4 pair of socks). The grand total was 207 Euros falloff

After my mother and I got over the initial shock that we just paid 270 US bucks or so for laundry, we laughed our asses off falloff

I found the turkish immigrants in Salzburg handsome, but the Germans had the most beautiful men in Europe. Their asses were incredible. I mean, marathon asses.

But I found the town absolutely charming in places.

Yes!

Though they aren't all that in Bavaria. It's like once you cross the border into Bavaria, they tend to get a bit haggard in appearance. Maybe it's all the partying and good food falloff

But when I was in Frankfurt and Paderborn, gawt damn. Beautiful men.

The most beautiful women I found where in London and Paris. I"m not sure why. shrug
