Imago's European thread made me start thinking about saving up for a real vacation. Then it got me started thinking about all the cool places I'd like to see...if money or other consideration weren't an object.

Since I'm starting this thread, I'll list my top-3

1. Egypt/Greece - if money & politics were no object, I would love to go see the pyramids and cruise down the Nile, then skip around the Greek isles exploring temples and beaches.

2. Cross-country USA - would really love to rent an RV for a month and drive from Montauk Point (the easternmost part of Long Island) all the way to California. Stopping frequently as we zig-zag across the country. [of course with my luck, the vehicle would breakdown in the middle of redneckville and I'd find myself beaten, hog-tied and shipped in a box to Tijuana]

3. Honduras - (don't laugh!) If money and the nation's violent crime wave weren't an object...I would love to take the kids to Honduras for a month. Exploring the Mayan ruins at Copan. Enjoying the sandy beaches of Cortes. Snorkeling the coral reefs in Roatan. Hiking the mountains of the Sula valley. But most importantly, immersing them in the culture of their grandparents' birthplace. My wife & I have done a terrible job at giving them any type of "Hispanic-ness". They can't even speak Spanish for Heaven's sake! I'd also take them to a shantytown like I was when I visited as a kid. You learn to appreciate what you have when you see people - kids - living in homes made out of cardboard boxes.

I need a vacation.

1.going to kyoto,japan to become a zen buddhist monk.
2.hanging out with sinead o'connor in ireland.
3.running around iceland with sigur ros and bjork.
4.chillin in el salvador.
5.painting in mexico with frida kahlo.

2. Hawaii, Florida, USA (been there before);
3. Cuba

Not necessarily in that order

The Hawaiian Islands, Maui, Waikiki (I've been to the big island)

Assuming money, politics, etc. are non-issues:

I'd love to go to India and see all the Hindu & Buddhist temples I studied in grad school. Realistically, I think I'd hate India, but I absolutely love Hindu sculpture.

Paris and the Cote d'Azur, Cinque Terra in Italy, Greece...

Africa--Egypt, Moracco, Kenya, the Congo, South Africa...

Martinique


I've only been to Europe and that was 10+ years ago...I'll probably never get to go to any of those other places...

I would also like to add that I think it would be cool to travel to space I mean what else is there after space?
