I got to thinking and came to a compromise. I did accept his work, but got an extension to turn in his grade tommorow morning before 1st period, but he must write me a 5 paragraph essay on why I should accept his work after all the outlandish behavior and total lack of effort and why he would change. He will get the D and be promoted to the next grade. However, due to his past behavior issues, he will not be allowed to attend the promotion ceremony. If he however does not have his essay to me by 8:00 A.M. he will fail. I say its 50/50 on wether he turns it in or not. Both he, the principal, and the parents agreed to this compromise and signed a contract stating so. So all is well in the world. Carry on. Its still a very real possibility he will fail theodore. He still has to turn in his essay. Even after he does, he still isn't waking in the promotion ceremony, which is what he wanted in the first place. He is merely getting his credits. (he is, but that type doesn't see it that way) He sounds manipulative.

[Edited 6/11/07 18:46pm] Reminds me of 9th grade when I let my friend cheat off of my test and the teacher caught us. He was gonna give us both F's on the test, but I asked for the option to write a paper on cheating to get credit for my test. I asked for a page paper, but told me to do 4 pages. I was just babbling my way through the paper. My friend at the time never asked for the option, he just got a "F". looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

He turned in his shit. It was not the best piece of work, but he did what was told. So he passes with a D -. But he tried to worm his way into the ceremony and the administration squashed it! So he passes but doesn't get the ceremony. So its a win win situation. Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

I am glad he is not part of the ceremony, that should be reserved with honor for the ones that do follow the rules. Thanks for the update!

Good Work Mr C!
This was a good compromise...you kept your integrity and made the kid sweat it out. My thoughts on this were...F the kid, how are you gonna come out of this? He'll go on to a life of crime, but you're the one who has to live with this decision. Especially when I read that he's the one who tried to steal your phone... I think I might have failed him... Unless, of course, he was going to be in your class again next year... [Edited 6/12/07 20:31pm] Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Are there summer tutoring programs this kid can go to? Yes he'll have to worry about that in high school, with the CAHSEE test. Not my problem anymore. He met state standards on his testing. Just not with my work. Oh, there a summer tutoring programs btw! Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Are there summer tutoring programs this kid can go to? That isn't quite the success they were hoping it to be, personally I think it did more harm than good. At least it wasn't here, the teachers spent more time preparing students for the test till it took away time teaching them the things they truly needed to learn. The legislation is looking at doing away with the test all together. And Mr. C what happen to the regular standardized test that we took back in the day? Is it still administered along with the test the kids must pass to graduate?
