Sunday dinner My son's home from college. So I cooked like a demon:
Fish Tacos: the usual layout. Tortilla soup with lime wedges, cheese to top off. That's in the middle with a ladle. Extra cilantro. Condiments: Salsa x 2.....saucey, and dry onion tomatoe chile from our fav Mexican butcher/deli. Blue corn and white corn tortilla chips. Mexican boat-style taco sauce: mayo, relish. chile sauce to color. Dark red bestest. Roasted chiles, 3 types annaheim,poblano, jalapeno; cheese x 2, cheddar, and smoked, to grate, green onion, sour cream, jicoma with lime and cilantro, lettuce, tomatoe, radishes in ice water. Refried frijoles with garlic, chiles, cheese. Fried corn tortilla taco shells. Beer batter fried striped bass and walley. [Edited 6/10/07 22:34pm] | |

Oh, I am impressed! I can smell the flavor through the screen! It made me so hungry I had to eat pop tarts cause I needed to save my left over bar taco meet for my lunch tommorow! Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

Better yet, to the right (in the picture )of the Chula Mexican sauce is my favorite pepper grinder. It's neat, in that it's copper, durable, and you grind the pepper to whatever coarseness to the bottom that is removable and you dash it on food. Bought several at the Grand Bazaar, (and left one at 3121 for the chef last time I was in LV and ate there.) I've GOT to get back to Istanbul.....Cook's paradise.....wooden spoons, ladels...the spice bazaar.... | |

Yup! I broiled the tomatoe,chilis, garlic, onion early in the afternoon. I always keep a batch of chicken broth (the tortilla soup can be made as a veggie soup using veg. broth) and a batch of stewed beans in the freezer.Supposedly freeezing beans reduces flatulance. The meal took about 2 hours of actual time. I started at 6 pm and everything was on the table by 8. | |

Go to the Spice Bazaar. It's not far away. There's a spice mixture for the ground meat kabobs that you grill on skewers or fry. It's a classic combo. "Lady meatballs"is the name of the recipe. It's a sauce simmered with chicken or turkey. The sauce is made from3 different chiles,coriander seed, peppercorns, cinnamon, clove, fennel seed,all toasted and ground. Along with tomatoe garlic, onion, raisin. Throw in toasted almond, pumpkin seed, and unsweetened chocolate. The blend of flavors is to die for, if you like tasty food. | |
