What would the child you once were think of the adult you have become?

So yesterday I was a chapperrone @ a 8th grade field trip to a theme park out here and as I was walking around observing the students and having real basic conversations with them, I was struck by 3 things 1)That some of them had huge hopes and dreams 2) That some of them had no dreams at all and are just coasting through 3) How Naive 13 & 14 year olds are. Then I started thinking back to my plans when I was that age. I remember I wanted to be either a pro football or basketball player or be an orthodontist!(WTF was I thinking! I took one organic chemistry class in college and that was the end of that!) It wasn't until like my sophmore year of college that I actually figured out through a special program where the athletes tutored special ed students that I loved teaching and coaching. So I asked myself, What would the child I once was think of the man I am now? I think the child I was would think that it was cool that I was still involved in athletics in some way (coaching) but would be very distraught at the fact that i work in education, especially in a Junior High, which were some of the most akward times in my childhood! lol I also think the child I was would be mad cause I'm not earning at least triple figures every year! lol But overall he would be happy cause I completed college, played college ball, still coach, and have a job! What about you?

I'd look at myself kinda how Jan looked at her crazy aunt in that one episode. I'd be upset and annoyed that we looked the same as children and worry that's what I'm gonna be when I grow up, but then I'd get to know her and find out she's pretty freaking cool and has had all sorts of great experiences and realize it's not so bad.

That and I'd wonder where the heck the phd is. lol

I think 10 year old me would look at 23 year old me and be some what happy with what I am so far.
I am completing dreams that I had such as going to unvisersity and majoring in political science. Now...what would 19 year old me say to 23 year old me? "Are you going to graduate school or not?!"
As for the other stuff, then yeah I did not become a princess or marry one of my movie star idols!

I guess at 14 you dont realise that one day the incredible roller coaster of emotions you get as a teenager will calm down.

I think the child I once was would be amazed that I have come out of my shell in some ways that were never expected.
She would be proud that I have remained kind, caring and compassionate considering the childhood I had.
She would be glad that I have an open mind and an open heart.
She would be upset that I let fear and lack of self confidence stop me from seeking a higher education.
She would not be happy that I have no real talent- she would have liked me to be a musician or dancer.

well life experiences have taught me wisdom I suppose.
I would like to go to school for something but I have no real talent or passion really. I also have a HUGE fear of math. School was a major fear of mine growing up- now I feel too old to go back.
