I was talking with some clients at work recently and apparently muskrat is a delicacy in the southern parts of Michigan. So, much, in fact, that the Pope commissioned it as an alternative to "meat" during lent! Who knew?!!?

LOVE it! He gets quite ferocious with it toward the end! My favorite is when he looks up at the camera. Squirrels are so cute that I just want to punch them.

I LOVE squirrels especially when they lay flat on the sidewalk. So cute.

They're my favourite rodent although groundhogs and beavers are on their tail and overall they're in a dead heat with short haired cats.

I agree with the folks here who think squirrels are cute.
Of all the free roaming rodents in my area,
whether it be possums, skunks, porcupines, hedgehogs, etc.,
squirrels are the only ones who, whenever I runover with my car, tend to invoke a silent, involuntary "Awww....poor lil critter" muttering from me.


BTW, once I was watching a program on the Animal Planet channel, about recently discovered cannibalism in the animal world,
& they brung up that squirrels have been observed, on rare occasions, to actually eat the infant young from a nieghboring burrow.
Scientists of this field have also claimed that on a few instances,
two squirrels have been observed to be actually eating each others nuts ( though, they believe this to be due more to a lifestyle choice than it is to any kind of cannibalistic instinct).
