Last night, there was knocking on a door on my floor from 1:30am to 2:00am. Loud and insistent. Intermittently, there was yelling(I think from the street below, though i'm not sure) and kicking of a door(my door?). There are three apartments on my floor, but from what I know, no one is living in the other two(one is our old apartment)--they are being renovated. We knew the people who used to live in the other apartments. The noise was loud enough that it could've been next door or the apartment right below me. Because it was so late and no one was walking around otherwise, I can't be sure. Our lights were already off and the tv wasn't on, so I didn't even wanna check the peephole because I didn't want the person(if it was my door) to know I was even home. It was that time of night that you can hear every sound. My neighborhood isn't great and it's not the absolute worst, but there are sketchy things from time to time--like the guy who got beat up outside our old apartment. My roommate is pretty deaf and he plays music while he sleeps, so I don't think it even woke him up.

i would've been terrified and not gone anywhere near the door.

I'd have called the police.

we have a front gate for our building, so either it was locked and this person lives in the building or it was unlocked and maybe the guy was trying to find somebody who used to live here.

Thats scary I would have defenitely panicked at least you werent totally alone.

I woulda called the cops.

I've learned to not get involved directly anymore.

The other night I woke up to what I think was a coyote struggling with prey - trapped a smaller animal (skunk or possum) - ugh!
