Earliest memories for a child

Is there a reason why some adults can clearly recollect their life before the age of 10 years old?

Bill O'Reilly said he remembers something when he was 2 years old.

My earliest memory was just under the age of three.
It shocked my family members that I was able 2 describe in detail the event.

I have memories of being in the 'New Luck Toy' restauraunt with my parents and grandparents. My family only went there once, when I was 11 months old. It was very strange, when I was 26 & revisited the place.

My earliest was 2yrs old as well.
My grandfather had died and I remember family being at my house that I never saw after that. My mother was amazed at the level of detail I remember.

I also thought the medical team (dressed in white) were angels taking him off to heaven.

I was about 18 months old at the time and sitting on a pram chair. My sister who was just 3 months old at the time was in the Silver Cross bassinet pram (this is in the early 60s). We were living in London at the time and I remember my Mother pushing the pram - she was wearing a black and white check coat, she had on makeup and wore her hair in a beehive and a chiffon scarf over the it. She was pushing the pram in a market in London. I can just about recall what I saw. I also remember my Mother and Father taking us to St James's Park in London and also feeding the pigeons at Trafalgar Square. My Mother cannot believe that I can recall all of these things.

Yeah, so clearly most people can remember a fair amount from before the age of 10. smile

My earliest memory is taking a nap in a basket of warm laundry. I've since seen the basket and it's pretty small. . .I had to be between 1 and 2.

I can remember trying to play with puppies that my parents had. I was trying to get into their box and my Dad laughed and took me to sit with him. I was a year old when the puppies were born. My parents kept one, he lived to be 17 years old.
I also have memories of my Grandma who died when I was 2 years old.
