Can you tell when someone is lying to you? Can you tell when someone is lying to you? Is it the eye contact? The body language? tone of voice? What? I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Usually it's simply the unlikelyhood that what they're saying is true.

I'm a pretty convincing liar to my parents especially in highschool! But I think I'm a good judge when I'm sitting face to face and on the phone....you can just sniff out the lies. I have a sixth sense for people who have been drinking though...even just one drink!

I used to think that I couldn't tell when a woman was lying to me, but then I realized that it was usually because I just wasn't paying attention.

There's usually some degree of either hesitation or eagerness - if neither is the norm w/ that person I'm gonna think something is up...

When you ask a difficult question and they hesitate answering or look away so that there is no direct eyecontact, it's a clear indication of lying. Body language such as nervously tapping a foot, or touching the face are indicators too. The tone of voice may be an indicator, but may have a different reason too. The best way to find out is to check the eyes and the body language. Besides that, if your intuition is well developed, it can tell you when someone is lying even when there are no clear fysical signs that they are.

I can almost always tell when someone is lying. The kids and teenagers I work with are constantly saying they want to know my magic secret for always knowing when they're lying (pssst...don't tell, but the magic secret is that they're shitty fucking liars and back down way too quickly)
Seriously though, all you have to do is stare at the person with an absolutely straight face and say nothing. If they're telling the truth they'll remain calm. But if they start looking nervous, or talking a lot and saying shit like "What? What are you staring at? You think I'm lying? WHAAATT?" you know they're a lying-ass liar. The Normal Whores Club

Why in the hell are you with someone that you know lies to you? He doesn't lie most of the time, and I know he's totally faithful. But he lies about pointless stuff. It niggles me. I think he's like a puppy sometimes, eager to please ... or maybe I'm tough to live with. I don't know. (I do ask myself the same question sometimes though).
