I think it's likely that it's the first profession in the sense that money was exchanged for something. I don't think historians can pinpoint the actual first profession but this is one that they can say they know has gone on since humans have walked the earth.

Okay, I think I ve to explain my attak, and tell you because why I am so worried.

I know the world of prostitution first hand and thiswhile I can speak, what I speak. I have also lost friends. I know what many, many prostitutes dreamed or are dreaming about, and I know of some lifes, tragedies!

And short before I wrote this thread, I had a conversation with a young man.

He told me to be an ex-soldier and that he was been in Bosnia to help the folk there, after the war.

Talking about that things and things of life, he spoke:

"You wont believe! There were young 14 year old girls saling us theyr bodies for food! Are you listening? For food!"

I asked "And you, did you took they bodies for the food they needed?"

"Yes, of course, that is normal, that is so."

"What is so? - Did you have enough food?"

"Of couse we had enough food! Hahaha!"

"So , you laugh. Was is so funny there? Couldn't you share it with that young minor girls, had you to take theyr innocent bodies?"

"I didn't took the girls, my friends did!"

"Well, I think that it would be more in your mission to help them. And that is not like this."

In a related vein, how do escorts get away with what they do? I know they don't technically sell sex, but when the measurements of certain body parts, etc., are part of their ad -- not to mention "full release" massages, etc. -- I think it's pretty clear what they're offering. How do they not get arrested?

If prostitution is the oldest profession then men are the oldest customers.

In ancient times, (I think it was either Assyrian or Babylonian women) used to prostitute themselves at the temple to gather themselves a dowry. The more she earnt the better a husband she would get. Virginity was also not a taboo subject and a woman did not go to her marriage bed a virgin because it was considered bad luck.

In Canada prostitution is not actually illegal. What's illegal is soliciting or advertising sex in exchange for money or favours. Escorts get away with what they do becuase they never outright say what the good time they promise constitutes.
