People are going nuts about who knows this and who knows that about the new album/tour/perfume/whatever. What's the point? You'll get it when you get it and when you get it, it'll be a surprise. Surprises are great.

For instance, birth. My wife and I did not find out the sex of either of our children until they were born. It was awesome. People thought we were nuts not finding out early, but that was because they were all about themselves, not the child.

Our first child was a boy. My wife comes from a family of all girls (children, that is), so she thought she was destined to have all boys. Sure enough, out pops a boy. Making the announcement to all our relatives in the waiting room was so cool. Just like in the old movies.

My wife was so sure child #2 was another boy that we didn't have a girl's name picked out.

Baby #2 pops out and the doctor says, "Congratulations Mr. RodeoSchro, you and your wife have a healthy baby daughter". Wow, the feeling we got was incredible. What a surprise!

There's an old cliche about walking on air, but I promise you - when I ran to the waiting room to make the announcement, I did not touch the ground.

And making the announcement was sooooo cool. Tons of relatives had come to the hospital, and I entered that room like a movie star. "IT'S A GIRL!" and the whole hospital exploded. You just don't get that looking at an ultrasound in a nurse's office.

The doctor asked us what our daughter's name was going to be. I said one name; my wife said another. Like I mentioned, we hadn't picked out a girl's name. So we held a vote, and my wife won, 1 - 1. Turns out her name was better sutied for our daughter anyway.

Surprises are great. I highly recommend arranging them any time you can. Like now, for instance - let Prince's album come when it comes.

but knowing what's going to happen and anticipating it is fun too.

I like knowing what is going to happen beforehand, Im bad I just cant wait sometimes

sometimes "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" is the best advice a person could heed. it's fun to speculate, but i think it's also important to do so in a spirit of fun without getting TOO over the top about it.

RodeoSchro, my husband and I also wanted the surprise finding out the sex of our children when they were born.

It is wonderful!



I've also come to the point, with Prince and his music, that I don't wanna know too much beforehand. I remember the fun of being at the store the day the new album dropped, so now, I don't listen to anything that is leaked, unless Prince himself posts it.

I do speculate some, but do so knowing that it's just speculation and fun, and not Earth shaking importance.

Why would anyone want to be surprised about anything?

As for Prince, couldn't care less. When the record comes out, I'll sample it and if I like it, I'll buy it. More likely than not, I'll look at the lyrics and think, "What the fuck do I need to listen to this for?".

My interest in music has definitely waned and I was never fanatical about Pree-onse in the first place.
