Question?

Has anybody on the Org had any experience with Travel Insurance?

Did you have a good or bad experience?

Is there a company you can recommend?

I was thinking about taking a cruise this summer and I thought I might get travel insurance since it is Hurricane Season.

I always get travel insurance. I usually look for the cheapest prices online and then compare policies.

Having had a bad experience once before, I always go for the maximum amount of legal cover I can get now. I'm not so worried about being able to reclaim huge sums for valuables or baggage, but I like to know I'm well covered for medical insurance.

Look at what each policy offers and then go with what you think your priorities are.

Where are you going to cruise?

One of my friends uncles came over to the UK from Jamaica for a holiday.

He was staying with family and so didnt buy travel insurance.
It was really cold weather, the time he was there and he caught pneumonia and got gangrene in both his feet.

His sister was a nurse, but still didnt matter, he didnt have travel insurance and had to pay out FULL for hospital treatment and amputation of both feet.. sad

ALWAYS get travel insurance nod

Can anybody recommend a Reputable Insurance Company? Cheapest isn't always the best way to go. Usually you get what you pay for in life.

How much does it usually cost?

where i am from you either go with blue cross or group medical
but i have no idea whether those companies are international or not.

it's relatively cheap. $2/day or there abouts
and you get a million dollars in coverage

be warned though that if you do get sick in an outpatient fashion
you need to have the cash up front to pay the bill. i thought the
popping sounds in my chest might have been the start of pnemonia so
went to a doctor and had to pay $100 plus for the visit. you have
to let the insurance company know you are going to the doctor before
you go and then the insurance people will reimburse your costs later.

now if you are in a car crash or something big i think they bill insurance directly.
i just know i wasn't really prepared on my short trip to be out that extra cash.

I was referring to Insurance that cover the cost of your vacation because of a natural disaster like a hurricane or something. Like say you paid for a vacation to Cancun but your flight and Hotel where canceled due to a hurricane. This insurance would re-imburse you for the cost of your trip.

I wasn't referring to Health insurance, which is still a good idea.
