Oral Hygiene

START RANT:

WHY OH WHY...with all of the products out there today, do people still have nasty yellow butter colored teeth? Do you just not care? Can you not afford a box of $30 Crest white strips? I mean, that shit WORKS. I noticed my smile was getting a little dingy a few years back and took immediate action.

It's a sensitive subject, believe me I know. I used to photoshop my ex's pictures with me cuz his teeth were so damn yellow and it embarrassed me. Shallow? Maybe. But I'm sorry, I take pride in my teeth and it's not expensive for everyone else to as well. I still have nightmares of him opening his mouth to come give me a kiss...ugh I still cringe at the thought of it.

Crooked teeth are hot, broken teeth are tough, but YELLOW BUTTER TEETH are just not acceptable! 30 bucks, white strips, get them!

And one last note, I don't care if you have spaces in your teeth you still need to floss. Ever smell the shit that comes out on that little piece of string? barf It's nasty, and if you don't floss you're guaranteed to have that smell coming out of your mouth!

RANT OVER

Carry on.

My teeth, although maybe not the brightest white you've ever seen, aren't too yellow either so I haven't really looked into the matter. I was however under the impression that whitening products can be harmful to your teeth in the long run since when they polish away the bad stuff they also wear down a tiny fraction of the actual tooth. Is that just a myth?

There are so many products out there now, Crest White Strips work very well and it's the only one I've tried. If you can't afford that you can get results with just baking soda and peroxide. It's nasty but it works over time. After you get the brightness desired you can maintain it with a toothpaste that has whitening agents in it.

I've asked my dentist because I was afraid it would break down the enamel in my teeth. They say it's completely harmless. Sometimes after using whitening products your teeth may be more sensitive and sore but if you use sensodyne toothpaste you'll be all set. They used to make my teeth ache horribly before I used that toothpaste.

In my defense, I tried using whitening products and they hurt my teeth! lol But I do floss, brush a few times a day and I brush both my tongue and the roof of my mouth! nod

Omg yeah. I got a gum shield specially made to bleach my teeth, which are naturally white but just brings them up a couple of shades brighter, but its a bitch trying to wear it, cos I always wanna talk.. lol

So I havent used it in agesssss.. now it kinda hurts - or maybe the bleach has gone off, I dunno.. sad

That stuff tears up my gums, they get blisters. I just do the normal stuff, brush, floss, and use a waterpik with a little hydro.

Don't use any of them damn whitening products, they'll just make your teeth look unnatural. I mean, I like teeth that have been taken care of, i.e straight & white, but I'd rather look at teeth that are slighty yellow than teeth that are too damn white. I don't want to see my damn reflection on your teeth!
This whole whitening your teeth thing is soooo American... rolleyes

Whatever. My teeth aren't glowing white like Simon's, that's not what I'm talking about or trying to achieve. I'm talking about the people who have teeth that look like popcorn. It's gross.
