Mp3 players: gimme suggestions I'm sick of not having one!
I had an iRiver that worked well for a while, but it turned out to be a klunky POS in the end. Now I'm kinda clicking around aimlessly on Amazon... So what do you guys have?

i like creative labs ZEN products. i have an old skool zen nomad, and when it finally falls apart (i've had it for almost 4 years and it's still going strong) i'll be getting a newer creative labs model. they're cute, you get more disk space for less money, the files are easier to transfer, and they're sturdy. good stuff.

I was actually looking at this: () but I read it was about as thick as a PSP, which sounds...not as portable as I'd like. I had a "sturdier" player before and didn't really like that, but I guess I'd have to hold it in my hand to really see. They do get great reviews tho

They do get great reviews tho they have smaller ones that still have lots of memory. the zen i have is old, so it's kinda clunky...but whatevs, it's around the size of a walkman and i get to feel old skool walking around with my bigass mp3 player. all it needs is faux wood panel decals.

Sandisk Sansa e280 (if you don't care about using iTunes, which only plays nice with ipods)
8 gigs, about $170 [Edited 5/30/07 7:03am] a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Does anyone have one of these?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/...640&sr=1-1 I'm really leaning towards this one, it's the sexiest, most genius one I've seen yet...

Yes, they do have smaller ones with comparatively lots of memory for less money and better sound than an I-Pod. Zen introduced this little gem called the "Stone" a few weeks ago, it costs 39 euro over here. I´m currently using a Philips Go Gear mp3 player which is great but I will get the Zen "Stone" from Creative Labs in a few days so I can have one for my workout at the gym and one with more mellow music. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Wait 4 months and get the next-gen ipod if you want video playback too.
It's sad, but the iPod will be the only one to get the portability aspect right of all the current PMPs which are, imho, all far too big.

I don't need video, but if it comes in a good overall package, fine. I was looking at the Samsung K5 or K3 because they're just the coolest, sleekest players I've seen (the K3 is a fraction smaller than the nano). The only thing that's making me hesitate is whether I should wait for the 8gb model to come out

If not, the Sony NW-A800 is the best thing I've seen. Does video too, but it's way better than the nano - beats it on battery, sound quality and coolness.

Hows that work? You just stick your SIM card in it?

Yeah, some are phones with like 4gb memory so you can shove em full of songs. they come with headphones and the software etc - album art and all that can be displayed. Really cool - what I'm gonna get next. Others take memory sticks, which go up to 8gb these days.

8 gigs, about $170 [Edited 5/30/07 7:03am] never heard of this one...I'll read up on it do. it's the best ipod alternative out there, imo. 8 gigs, plus a MicroSD slot for up to 2 gigs of additional flash memory. Video playback FM Radio Voice Recorder (that also records radio) Windows Media Player 10 and Rhapsody compatible USB 2.0 transfers supports MP3 and WMA audio files and Quicktime .mov and .bmp video files 20 hour battery life all for $170. suck on that Apple. edit: i mean ... suck on that, Apple. I like my 60 gig video ipod, but the video capabilities are a waste. you can barely watch a movie on a full battery--i never use it for that.
