OK, I really don't want to jack this thread but Medicaid gives him $50 a month This is in a country where there is enough money to pay for the killing of thousands in foreign ventures, where someone gets paid millions to throw a ball, where the wealthiest have enjoyed the biggest party at the expense of the nation. It is WRONG that someone like this is not taken care of by society!.

How much does it cost? We could make one of those thermometer-meter things that show the amount raised and the amount needed!

I realize the operation(s) are probably incredibly expensive, but if we could contact everyone on each of our myspaces and every other site we visit, we just might make this a reality for this man.

I've met Paul as well and know for a fact this is legit, for anyone willing to donate yet aren't sure of its authenticity.

Sure there's the 30 baht card here which means you only pay for medicine when you visit the hospital, but following Mon's older brother Noum being knocked off his motorcycle and paralysed by a wreckless driver about 5 years ago the lawyers are still wrangling over the compensation money, and in the meantime Mon's parents have him downstairs in a hospital bed in the front room, feeding him, cleaning him, doing everything for him with no assistance from trained medical staff. Physio, whatever's available, but I can't help thinking that having some dedicated, trained people in the field working with him regularly might have made at least a small difference. Instead they just ensured he survived, informed the family he was paralysed and pretty much just handed him to us to take care of. This family never had the money for a fancy hospital for him so I guess that's just how it goes.

I really hope we can do Paypal because that's pretty much the only way for me, and it would mean I could donate more than once very easily as and when I had some money in there.

The latest is that David's nurse is looking into setting up a Paypal account.

Don't know dook, but people in need count me in. I almost got sideswiped by a truck days before my kid was born. I still get a chill at that intersection today, thinking about how different life could be.

So, for those that don't know, I met Dave in school back in 1995 when my family moved to Colorado the summer before my senior year of high school. After high school graduation in 1996, we both ended up at the University of Colorado at Boulder and remained good friends. We ended up becoming roommates several years later in 2000 and even worked at the same Target store in Boulder.

Dave is honestly one of the greatest guys you could ever ask to meet and one of the best friends a guy could ask for. He's a true friend and has always been there in good times and in bad. He's probably one of the smartest guys I know and I would always bounce ideas off of him or ask him for advice. He is a RABID sports fan and knows more inconsequential facts about every single sport in the world! He is seriously a sports encyclopedia! I remember the two of us used to watch the gameshow "Two Minute Drill" on ESPN and it was amazing watching him answer the tough sports questions a split second before the contestants on TV did! He would just rattle off the answers in a "wow, this is too easy" sort of tone! It was great! He lives and breathes Bronco's football and Duke basketball.

I think my favorite thing about Dave is his sense of humor. For those that know me, I love to laugh and Dave and I have always had great laughs together. Whether it's making silly voices around the house, telling dirty jokes, or just throwing inappropriate comments at one another, Dave is always there to make you smile. Anytime I'm back in Denver, I always stop in to spend a couple hours with Dave and it never ceases to amaze me how, even in the state he's in, he can still tell a dirty joke like nobody's business - it seems simple, but that's how I know that Dave is still the exact same guy that I've known all these years.

When something tragic happens to someone, they always say "how could it happen to such a great person" - I never knew how true this was until Dave's accident. Words cannot explain how amazing he is - anyone would have said this even before his accident. So, even if you don't feel comfortable sending money, please keep Dave in your prayers. Also, if you know anyone not on prince.org who would be interested in helping out, please don't hesitate to forward Dave's story and information.
