Are you afraid of driving in thunderstorms?

I just drove home from the airport and got into a thunderstorm with lightening around me. I got so scared that I first stopped under a bridge with warning lights on and the other cars passing by... confused
After a few minutes I started driving again but then stopped at the very next gas station. I waited there for about 20 minutes until it almost stopped raining. I was still very scared driving home eek
I am usually scared driving in thunderstorms, but never like I was today. It might also be because they wouldnt let us off the plane right away because the lightening was around us after we landed and they wouldnt let any passengers or staff outside until it was gone. Then staff told me that lightening hit the poles (right word?) at the airport.
sad Now I need someone who does this to me: hug

I feel you. comfort Got caught once going through the mountains. I hate driving through the mountains in the first place, I hate driving in thunderstorms and the 2 together was maddening, just creep along like a snail, I know the drivers behind me hated me, but we all made it through safe, so...

Now at home snuggled in my bed I love them, sometimes I wish we actually got some real ones here, they are pretty tame compared to what I saw in AZ.

Oh Schätzien! It's okay, you're home now und alles ist ok! You know, a couple of days ago we had a bad storm here too, really unusually severe for Germany (in my opinion). It was one of the few times I have ever been alarmed by a thunderstorm here, I can totally understand how you freaked out. I think it's probably just a passing weather pattern we are having at the moment. But in any case, sit down, relax, and have a tea, okay?

Thank u everybody. Its nice to know I'm not the only one! I love thunderstorms when I'm at home, but driving shake
Today they talked about so and so many people on the News who have been hit by lightening in the past couple of days, so I guess it's a natural fear we have to have neutral

But if the car gets hit by lightening u MIGHT survive it, but I hate the idea of being trapped in a burning car. I have seen a picture of a car that was hit by lightening and it was not pleasant.

Yes because I hate to drive in the rain, period, mostly because I have a hard time seeing and people around here do good to maintain lanes in the sunshine, plus hydroplaning is no fun, also hate being beside/behind those 18 wheelers with all there oversplash/spray from their tires, and around here where I live, theres curves, hills, drop offs, so various factors play in...and what's worse than all that is driving in the rain at night..that's a no no no!
