i agree with the Long John Shivers comment, their food has so much grease in it that when you shit it out it clogs your toilet bowl.

ain't that the truth!
I don't like LJS, I'd rather have Captain D's but alot of people hate that too

Chipotle is the only chain restaurant I will eat at. (Anx, I think they put cilantro, salt, and lime juice in their rice to make it so good.) Oooh, and I used to eat at California Pizza Kitchen when I lived in Chicago---their tostada pizza is yummy! drooling

Haven't eaten Micky D's, BK, Taco Bell etc for at least six years. I have a feeling I would get violently ill if I did, especially since I don't eat meat or fried things. Hell, even butter cream frosting makes my stomach a little queasy.

An Olive Garden opened up in the city near where my parents/fam still live and the people there think that place is the best thing since the hot comb. wacky People fuckin' line up at 4:30pm to get in when it opens at 5pm b/c they don't take reservations. When I went back for my grandfather's funeral in February not only did I have to eat there with my parents, bro, sis-in-law & their kids, we had to eat at 5 fuckin o'clock! I was like--I don't even leave work until 6:30pm in New York. Five o'clock is like lunch time in NYC....11pm is dinner time! lol

That happened to a friend and I once at Denny's. They made us wait who knows how long for our food, and when it finally came out, the server did not even apologize for making us wait so long. I will never go into a Denny's again because of that incident.

that happened to me and the bf at O'Charley's. They suck ass too although i'm forced to go there ---- it's the bf favorite restaurant...yuck!!! barf

Never heard of O'Charley's. Guess I'm not missing much. smile

I think Quiznos and Subway are both ickybad (granted, it has been a long time since I had either). If Quiznos is still the only one that toasts the bread, that would probably be a tiebreaker for me between Nasty and Gross.

I am so, so, so sosososososo SO happy to live someplace where I don't have to eat at stupid barfy chain restaurants.

Which brings me to my question:

You live in Chicago. Why the hell are you eating at Quiznos OR Subway? confuse

i work downtown, which caters to people who, how can i say this politely, do not exactly have adventurous tastes in food. so i either have to bring my own food or forage among the chain restaurants.

BELIEVE me, when i'm back in my own nabe, i'm in heaven. chicago diner, a kajillion thai places, indian buffet...i'm set. cloud9

Chicago. Diner. headbang

I bought their cookbook recently. I need to actually try using it.

Leona's, Its a chain in Chicago and for the life of me I can't figure out why people go there. Its bland food, with i guess what people would call an Italian twist. But for some reason the place is popular.

i think sushi is a waste of money. it's pretty but i have never felt satisfied from eating it as a meal. it's basically an expensive snack for me. same with tapas. i need to eat real food when i'm hungry, not this overpriced barbie doll food. nod

It's probably more of a comfort food for me.
and there's alot of hate for Olive Garden, wtf? I like olive garden...no, it's not gourmet italian food but the 2 times I've eaten there it was good. It is mad popular though so it takes alot to get a seat.

I seem to notice that a lot of orgers don't like Pizza Hut.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Surprised nobody mentioned Dominos, easily the worst pizza in the country. Yes, Pizza Hut is pretty bad. Haven't ate there in about five years.

White Castle is great, but you have to be drunk.

KFC can be great when the Original recipe is cooked right and it is tender.

Olive Garden is stupid. You might as well open a can of Chef Boy-R-Dee and save some spending money.

Here is humorist Joe Queenan's take on Red Lobster:

"Red Lobster, I quickly learned, was a chain geared toward people who think of themselves as just a bit too upscale for Roy Rogers. Even while waiting in the gigantic anteroom of the bogus sea shanty I could detect a certain aura of proletarian snootiness because of the way people were looking at me and my son. While Gordon, age ten, and I showed up in nondescript t-shirts and shorts, the Red Lobster patrons were bedecked in their best windbreakers and their very finest polyester trousers.
"Next time, show some respect," Their expressions suggested. "after all, you are eating at Red Lobster. This aint some goddamned Wendys."
The Red Lobster menu consisted entirely of batter cunningly fused with marginally aquatic foodstuffs and configured into clever geometric structures. I immediately being to suspect that the kitchen at Red Lobster consisted of one gigantic vat of grease in which plastic cookie molds resembling various types of food were inserted to create a structural resemblance to the specific item ordered. This was the only way to determine if you were eating buffalo wings or crab cakes. Technically, my dinner--the Admirals Feast--was a dazzling assortment of butterfly shrimp, fish filet, scallops, and some mysterious crablike entity. But in reality, everything tasted like Kentucky Fried Chicken, even the french fries."
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Waaaittt a minutue....is there a Leona's on Sheffield & Diversy or somewhere over there by DePaul and the brown line? I think that's the place my wallet was stolen! Do you order the food in a line and then they bring it to your table? If that's the place then fuck 'em...when my wallet was stolen, they knew who did it, I knew who did it, and they didn't even offer to comp my meal! mad

Sheffied and Belmont is the Chicago location, though they have places through out the Chicagoland area. For the life of me I can't figure out why the place is popular. The Food is bland, the decor is boring, the staff could care less, and the place isn't all that clean. Melrose serves better food even if they hate the gays.
