E-mails getting sent to the wrong person Ten years ago I used to hang out a lot with a girl named Sarah. We had plenty of fun at the time but for some reason we lost contact. I never saw her after that, with the sole exception of when we accidentally bumped into each other in the street around five years ago. So you can imagine my surprise when I suddenly got an e-mail from her, especially since it only said:
"Peter, are we doing anything for Environment Day?". I replied and said: "Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Environmental issues are important and it'd be good for the organization to show itself in a context like that. However, I think you've sent this e-mail to the wrong Peter. But maybe you'd like to go out for a cup of tea some day anyway?" So now it seems like we're going to meet up again after all these years, simply thanks to her clicking the wrong name in her address book. Have you ever mistakenly sent or received an e-mail? What were the consequences? Do tell. .

Yes!!!!
An aquaintance of mine is in a band (famous in Germany apparently) and I am on it's mailing list. So this email comes one day with the full band itinirary and band "requirements" in terms of food and accomodation etc. and it started with "dear Charlotte" turns out she meant to send it to another Charlotte who must organise all this stuff for them. It was a pretty full on tour, I don't know how these musician types do it and ANOTHER time, this same girl, sent an email out without Blind Copy and I got the email addresses of tons of (smalltime) celebs! which was fun for about a day

So how did you abuse the celeb list? well, one of them was a guy on TV John Foreman (he is the musical arranger on Australian Idol who has a ton of contacts in the music industry here) and we sent him an email about soda nation, but got no reply I suppose since it was completely unsolicited. Another girl we thought of contacting - Tania Doko, who is a singer in a band here called Bachelor Girl and presents celebrity dog school but we realised even with name dropping nobody was going to reply

Ex-Moderator | About a week or so after I signed up for my very first hotmail account (so this was yearrrrrs ago) and it was something lame like "Carrie75" or something I got a long, long email that some man was sending to his "other woman" (who was me, apparently) telling her how much he now loathed her, that she was pathetic, to stop interfering in his and his wife's lives, and it honestly went on and on and was one of the most hate-filled and sad things I'd ever read. I felt bad for whoever Carrie74 or 76 was. At the end of the letter, though, he mentioned he'd blocked email from this address, so not to bother to respond. So I couldn't even say, 'hey dude, chill. btw, wrong Carrie'.
I wonder if Carrie74 or 76 ever talked to him again. |

Cool! Imagine how cool it would have been if Soda Nation had actually been signed thanks to an errant e-mail... It would have made a great story to tell the journalists later in the career.

I wonder if Carrie74 or 76 ever talked to him again. Damn! So he'd had a relationship with her but changed his mind, and was now pinning all the blame for the affair on hereven though he was the one cheating? How sweet. And how bizarre that you got such an important e-mail. Maybe the fact that it got lost changed the whole course of events in these three people's lives. I find things like these mind-boggling.

I know! In a way, I was kinda happy I got it and I always hoped that maybe she already knew what an ass he was and just never talked to him again and never had to read or hear such awful, awful things from someone she'd obviously shared something with. I really do still think about it from time to time. It could be the plot of a good story or movie. |

Yeah, let's hope she already knew because if she didn't, then maybe it would have been good for her to read all that crap so that she would at least be able to base her decisions on the truth. Maybe now when she didn't hear anything back from him it made her think he was playing hard to get which made her want him even more. Lots of "maybes" there, I know, but it's fun to speculate.

in my experience girls never do anything by accident, that gentle touch, when they scrape by or strike up a conversation from nothing...
its all meticulously planned... just try and remember if you ever pissed this girl off, it might be payback time. are you ready for submission

I wrote an e-mail to my friend about how stupid my cousin was for taking back her crazy cheating drug-user boyfriend. I went into all the embarrassing details of what he had done to her and how she was degrading herself. It went to my cousin. Oops. The Normal Whores Club

I have been the one sending the incorrect e-mail to the wrong person. BIG consequences. Ended up having to explain some pretty deep stuff.

Oh no. So what was her reaction? "Ummmm, I love you and everything, but who the fuck is [name of friend] and why is she all up in my business?" I wo-manned up and told her the truth: That I was befuckingfuddled that she was taking him back, couldn't wrap my mind around it, and sought support from a good friend. I told her I loved her and wanted what was best for her, which was true. She couldn't stay mad at me. How could she? The Normal Whores Club
