I'm at that age when all my good friends... are starting to get married! There is something in the air between the ages of 25 - 35 that makes people of this age group have an unreal desire to get married. I'm 27 and in the past 3 years out of five jacks (nickname of my five best friends , it a long story but one time when we were all out during college this nasty whore tried to hook up with all of us and asked our names, we all agreed we would be called jack, thus the birth of the 5 jacks) 3 have or will be getting married! I am going to be in a wedding this weekend (and trying to find a way to sneak out of the reception early to watch the UFC fight) and I am happy for my friends, but in a way feel like I am on the verge of being the last of the mohicans. Funny thing is I was initially the first of us to get engaged! Now I do want to get married, but I'm enjoying life, however its moments like these that make me feel like wtf! Why am I not married? Which brings up the question, at what age did ya'll get married, when do you think is a good age to get married at, and did you guys ever feel as weird about this phenomenon as i do now? You said you are 27? What? Enjoy life being single! Then when u get married kiss good times goodbye. Or so I have heard from people that are married. I am 23 and most of my friends got married right out of high school and I felt left out. Now I am going to university and can talk to different guys without feeling the of being tied down for now. I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

I'm the only one out of all of my friends that isn’t nor have ever been married and 39 years old. I just found out last week that even a friend of mine who was a hard street wise home girl had gotten married. She's divorced now as is another friend of mine, they all have kids they're raising. They live in another city but still I completely understand where you're coming from and the funny thing is of my female friends I was the only that wanted to get married. Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be still single with no kids at almost 40.

You just need to do what feels right to you. Not what others around you do.
And I don't think marriage means the end of having fun. I've never been in one, but the whole purpose is to be with someone that you enjoy being with.

Well, I'm 36, and I'm completely weirded out by the phenomenon (though I tend to call it the 'cultural script').
It's hard! There's like this 'marriage cult' and this 'baby cult'. Members endlessly complain about being in them, but they insist you hurry up & join them, because you will not relate to or understand their misery until you do. I'm not kidding... I don't think your situation is abnormal, and as already said - do what feels normal to you! You'll know when you feel a sense of urgency about it... why do people assume the only way to be happy is to be married.
life has many things or ways for you to be happy. solitude is a good form of finding out what makes you happy. a relationship waste so much energy.

OMG! That's me! The thing is, I'm working on my Doctorate, and when I talk to some of them, they say they wish they had gone thru more schooling, One of my girls is already a grandmother (same age). We had a good cry one day, because I felt I was too old to not have kids, and she felt she was too young to be a gramma... guess the grass is always greener...! "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. I do the same with one of my best friends, she's not a grandmother yet and trying to keep it that way. But she keeps telling me to be glad I don't have any kids ... I think in some instances it is greener and sometimes richer...
