As for me, the man himself.

It was the 3rd - funk - night at Paisley Park, during the 2002 Celebration.

I was right near the stage and, out of nowhere, this trumpet could be heard towards the back of the room. Suddenly, the crowd parted - I was the person at the front of the line, if that makes sense - and Prince trots through the crowd like a funky Pied Piper. My mate - who was standing opposite - said my jaw literally dropped.

I gave him a little 'Good luck, mate' pat on the shoulder and he played a fonky as hell set. One of the best weeks of my life.

I have many encoutners with Prince but the only time I actually touched him was Celebration 2001 we got to the Park late and the Time had already started. We went in, found our places to stand and I had to use the bathroom. So I ran out to the empty lobby and used the facilities and when I came out Prince and a few staff members were blocking the entrance to get back into the soundstage. I stood there for a minute wondering what to do as he looked at me and I looked at him and they were deep in conversation about something and finally I had to be all "Pardon me" and smoosh past him. None of them really even moved to get out of my way.

At the '02 Celebration, during the guest artists' sets, P would sit on this raised platform with Mani, near the lobby. It was hilarious watching all these fans with a sudden urge to go to the bathroom, trying to be all 'What? You mean Prince is sitting right there? Mercy me, I didn't notice'.

And I've actually met David Lowry on several occasions. I've seen every Cracker or Camper Van Beethoven show that's come through Mpls except for one since I turned 21 and was able to get into them.
