Haha I thought this was a real flame war until I actually read it through properly
Anyway Woody Allen is a brilliant man and I love his movies. I don't mind if you disagree with this point of view, but please stop trying to hijack IceNine's thread with the same off-topic tired rhetoric about his relationship with Soon-Yi. Yawn!

Ice-Nine I gotta agree that Woody is still great. Hollywood Ending was a cute, funny movie and I do think Tea Leoni's part was like a Mia Farrow role. I think he still cares for her. Whatever went down between them and the Soo Yi thing well let me tell ya something his movies like Annie Hall,Manhattan, Bananas, Life and Death and don't forget all the new ones. I love his Neurotic,Anxiety ridden Personae and it just cracks me up that after all these years he's still the same Nutty Character. Yes,I think his Hysterical Blindness is Great and that movie with Isaac Mizrahi and please a Japanese cameraman who only speaks Mandarian not English. I could die and I absolutely still love Treat Williams who was in the movie Hair and God will Hair always be my favorite? The age of Aquarius. Rado and Ragi where are you and are you still Alive? Maybe,I'm just a Hippie or something, but Damn I love that stuff in Hair and wish I would have been in that play. I believe it was 68 or 69 what a time I wish I experienced that. The songs in Hair. How Can People be so Heartless? Get the Soundtrack everybody. Sly and the Family Stone and Larry it is all sooogood!!! So Damn Good...so Damn Fine!!!

Few things in life please me more than a Woody Allen or Stanley Kubrick movie. They both make films that are smart and twisted at the same time.

Is it just me or is "Zelig" just one of the funniest movies ever made? When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I don't want to rehash an old post, but I've been looking for this one because I had wanted to comment on it, but didn't want to start a whole new thread. I just discovered that I can set the pages to go back even further. Whoda thunk it? lol
Anyway, regarding Woody and Soon-Yi, he was never convicted of any wrong doing, but that does not mean that he did no wrong. In a very broad sense incest is defined as a sexual encounter by a family member or extended family member. The following excerpt is taken from the SIA (Survivors of Incest Anonymous) website. "We define incest very broadly as a sexual encounter by a family member, or by an extended family member that damaged the child. By "extended family" member we mean a person that you and/or your family has known over a period of time. This may be any family member, a family friend, clergy, another child, or anyone that betrayed the child's innocence and trust." This also is from the SIA website: "Another repercussion of incest is that victims often regard authority figures with anxiety. Passivity is comfortable because it is familiar, and she may accept familiar misery rather than risk unfamiliar change. An experiment was conducted in which dogs were forced to endure painful electric shocks without any means of escape. A second group of dogs were compelled to endure shocks and quickly escaped when it was possible. When the first group was shocked again, with escape now possible, they did not leave. They had been conditioned to endure pain. This experiment suggests why so many victims were sexually abused as adults by therapists, counselors, doctors or bosses. Victims are accustomed to losing battles and feeling powerless. Victims do not believe they can win. Assertion is a difficult concept for an incest victim." The second quote may very well describe why Soon-Yi never pressed any type of charges. Soon-Yi may have been 21 when she had sex with Woody Allen, but she was raised for several years with him as a father figure. By the definition above, regardless of how old Soon-Yi was at the time of the sexual encounter, it is still defined as incest. As for the "child" aspect, Soon-Yi was in his care many times as a child, just because the encounter didn't happen until she was "of age" does not mean that her trust in the man she considered to be a father-figure was not betrayed. I can tell you for fact that many victims of child abuse will do whatever they can to protect the "parent (as defined above)". Age has nothing to do with this issue whatsoever, prior familial relationship does.
