Boreanaz Up for Role of Prince Namor

In an attempt to get every character who has ever appeared in an issue of Marvel Comics to the big-screen comes the news that there will be movie based on the Sub-Mariner.

One actor up for the role is Whedon-verse staple, David Boreanaz, who auditoned for the role last week.

The Sub-Mariner movie will be directed by Jonathan Mostow for Universal Pictures.

In the comics, Namor is the son of a human sea captain and of a princess of the mythical undersea kingdom of Atlantis. Namor possesses the super-strength and aquatic abilities of the “Homo mermanus” race.

Through the years, he has been alternatively portrayed as a good-natured but short-fused superhero, or a hostile invader seeking vengeance for perceived wrongs that misguided surface-dwellers committed against his kingdom.

No word on final casting for the film nor when production will commence, though if Borenaz gets the role, it would have to be during the production haitus for his FOX TV series, “Bones.”

I think it could work, but only (like all others) if it is done right.

I think he has the right look, although he'd have to drop a few. He got a bit hulky as time went by on Angel.

i can see that, though i was also thinking of dude who played milo on '24' this season and who was claire's thugged out boyfriend on 'six feet under'...dunno his name, but he has striking facial features, is dark featured, and certainly has the body for the role.

I remember that guy, he was on the first two episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. He might work.

Keanu definitely has the look, but I can't imagine Namor speaking with his voice.

I think Julian McMahon would have made a better Namor than Dr. Doom

Namor's always been one of my favorites, but Marvel never does him justice. He's one of the few characters that can go toe-to-toe with the Hulk.

I don't know if he's popular enough to carry a movie. They should have introduced him in the F4 sequel.

They need to bring this dude to the big screen
