Desperate Housewives' Finale

i am really disappointed. 1st Grey's Anatomy's and now this.

the writers were obviously just too focused on having clifhangers that they missed out on having a damn good episode that INCLUDES a good clifhanger. disbelief

Right? I was a bit underwhelmed by the whole thing. I actually surfed online while it was airing.

sigh Edie.

At least Ugly Betty's finale was way better. I expect nothing short of OMFGB on Wednesday for Lost.

i hated how they kept going back and forth with the Gabby & Carlos relationship that it became so dull. if they made them get back together early on this season it would've been more romantic (around the time Gabby was alone, when freaky Zaac was hovering all around her ass). Now i doubt it'll have any effect if they get back next season unless the writers REALLY work their asses to come up with something original

I thought it was a bit of a stretch that Edie would be driven to suicide after Carlos dumped her. Like you said, I can see someone rescuing her quickly before she dies in the next season premiere. Maybe Carlos will be guilted into getting back with her, but he and Gabby will sneak around behind their significant others' backs. That could be interesting.

Mike and Susan's wedding was long overdue. I thought that was the best part of the finale.

off the top of my head:

Mike & Susan finally tied the knot.

Gabby married the mayor, found out he only married her to win the Latin demographic.

Bree is back, pretending to be pregnant. Her daughter is basically is the pregnant one so she kept her away so when she gives birth people will think it is Bree's baby.

Edie strangled herself 'cause Carlos dumped her after finding out about the birth control pills.

Lynette's estranged mother moved in with her to help her cope with Cancer 'cause she recovered one (brest cancer). Even though they apparently can't stand one another.

Let's face it...many of the plots are sorta rehash. The only one that really moved anywhere this season was Tom and Lynette. Oh and Carlos and Edie was a decent move. What they failed to do last season was get the Whites (or a different family) to be integrated into the other families. Most new characters ended up dead or close to it, this season. They need some new blood on Wisteria lane...I was almost hoping for Peri Gilpen to join.

Definitely yeah. That scene when Lynette wears her hair down i was like,, daaamn.

Her character is what's keeping the show together recently (like Bree's was in the 1st and halfway through the 2nd season).

One of the stupidest things this season was the way the director kept on trying to hide Bree's pregnancy. She's either standing behind a fridge door, a television, Andrew's head,, the hell?? falloff

There are so many regular characters that I don't see the point in bringing in another family.

Felicity Huffman is by far the best actress on the show.

Well you could just knock off Susan or have her move. I was so bummed that Ian didn't take that wench away. Gabby too. You could just I dunno snap her in half, and rake her up with the leaves and no one would notice.

I think the four ladies all have their roles that balance each other. Gabby and Susan do the comedy storylines and Bree and Lynette handle the more serious issues. Gabby and Susan are needed to keep the show light-hearted.

Wrong for the show or a choice you wouldn't make? I think it's perfectly in character for her.

Bree is so psycho...I love it. lol

That mayor dude seemed really sleezy. There was just something about him I couldn't put my finger on.

the show ended the 2nd she strangled herself, so we'll find out next season. But personally, i doubt it as so many people do as well, unless that's what the writers want us to believe so we get shocked.

I was really starting to like, and believe, in the chemistry of Edie and Carlos. I have to admit, I finally started coming around to liking her more this year because the writers finally gave her a realness or vulnerability. I hated the fact that whenever they considered the DH gals - Edie was strangely left out.

I wish they would have kept Rick in the storyline longer. Without the hunky gardner kid Gabby was boinking - there wasn't a lot of male sex appeal on the show.

The new season will be interesting. If they did kill off Edie, it's a shame because we were finally getting some insight into her and I think she was getting more likeable.

I found the whole thing with Mrs. McClusky a bit disturbing and thought they wrapped up that story a bit too earlier. I hated how they swept Alfie Woodard's character under the rug too. Lynette getting shot - however - was brilliant. That was phenominal acting on her part! The thing with Orson and his mom was too over the top though, but it was nice to see Dixie Carter back on television and we finally got answers about Mike's past out of the way. (Now what can they do with him?)

I am hoping the new season will see a return to the workplace for some of these wives. Like, what the hell does Susan do? I miss Lynette in the office and dealing with her boss. It's also fun to make a drinking game out of Susan's relationship with her daughter. Everytime she gets advice from her daughter, drink a shot!

I hate to say it, but I think Mark Cherry and folks are writing themselves into a corner. It could be a very boring, unbelievable season next year! How about this:

- In an effort to one-up the Mayor, Gabby decides to run against him when he campaigns to be Governor -- and wins!
- Carlos, in his machismo maleness, saves Edie and they decide to resume their relationship. When she finally gets pregnant, he still has sex with Gabby (since we all know the comfort of sex with an ex). Edie labors through a difficult pregnancy and it could end the season with whether or not she or the baby survives.
- Bree is exposed for not being preganant. The daughter comes back home but runs away, abandoning the baby with Bree & Orson, to be with Edie's nephew. The daughter's gay brother, Andrew, and his boyfriend decide they want to raise the baby. Andrew and boyfriend get a place together and their relationship is revealed (aluding to the fact that a gay man can be a Desperate Housewife). You can imagine how Bree is thinking "what the neighbors might think" and she and Andrew conflict about how to raise the baby properly.
- Ian dies in a plane crash and, come to find out, made a will leaving Susan everything that he did not change in time since their wedding was called off. His parents want to battle Susan to contest the will and a legal fight ensues.
- Joan Collins joins the cast as a city health inspector who inspects Tom's restaurant and wants to shut it down -- unless he sleeps with her. She keeps him wrapped around her finger, until Lynette fully recovers from her cancer treatments and fights with her Dynasty-style in the pizzaria, complete with dough and sauce getting thrown around. Turns out, Joan Collins' character is actually Rick's mother!

not at the begining of the season she wasn't when the bitch manipulated Mike against Susan. Though it was a good move of the writers to give her a deep storyline this season.

as for your suggestions, i do think the show really needs some extremes to recharge itself. Another cycle of problems within the same circle of people would be boring to death.

I think that is all believable except for the part about Tom sleeping with the health inspector--or anyone for that matter. The vibe I get about his marriage with Lynette is that neither of them will cross that line.

lol at all of that. My biggest issue is that I feel a whole season was left out. Marc Cherry didn't helm last year so that's what could have happened. I feel as though most are cariacatures of themselves these days.

While this season was incredibly better than last, I do find much of the writing uneven.
