Dex,

I think she was wrong in not introducing you to them. It doesn't matter if you're dating or just friends it's common courtesy.

I do believe that you should talk to her about it.

i've been that girl...i took my boyfriend of 9 months over 300 miles to meet my family for the first time on xmas day,i hadn't seen them for 3 months myself and when i arrived i was swept away by them and left my poor fella to fend for himself most of the day. he actualy ended up in the kitchen making cocktails all day for us..i never meant to ignore him..he just got on with it and introduced himself. maybe she like me just got carried away by the attention after all it was her 30th!

Drop off a copy of Judith Martin's "Miss Manners". Maybe she really doesn't know how to treat guests. Then again, you were more than a guest, and treated
poorly at that.
It's worth discussing with her, if only to have a better understanding for yourself what went wrong.

I totally understand the magnitude of the ocassion..just show me some respect in the onset...then you can do whatever you do!! I am grown...but not averse to simple respect!

I'm sorry but that's no excuse, I really just can not see how at some point during the day/event one doesn't realize that they’re there with someone that no one knows. I can understand the first few minutes in but after that I have to wonder because that's so inconsiderate for one thing and I think sorta selfish on some level. (Disclaimer) Not saying that you are just anyone doing that.

You're right any way you cut it, there really isn't an excuse for that.

I'm just wondering did anyone ask who you were or how you knew her at any point?

I asked because if someone had (a family member or anyone really), I would think they would have said something to her like, "I met your friend or I met so and so...you could have introduced the brother". Or even asked her at some point who you were, giving her a clue but then again who's to say it didn't happen, people may have asked her who you were, which would make it even worse.

Okay I'm going to stop now because there are too many things wrong with what happen. You were right to leave and cut it off.
