Yum! I like watching them make them. lol they really dont look edible when complete.

I love watching those shows...I love watching anything to do with sweets.
I think I watched a show on Hitory channel about making chocolate and other candy

I do too. I used to watch that show Sweet Dreams too, but I don't think it comes on anymore. The other show Sugar Rush is gone too.....that one didn't last long at all.

I just realised that the ANT part is not what he was talking about.

The funny thing is NO ONE in the room noticed anyways.

Okay duff is awesome at the "industrial art" side of decorating but to be honest, this coming from a cake artist, some of his cakes are 30% or more inedible! Now I understand doing that on one or two cakes but my policy is EVERYTHING on the cake should be edible and beautiful.

I consider my work cake artistry with a high value on quality and taste of the cake and the presentation. I think he focuses more on the look of things

Erin and I were saying that last night, a lot of the time half the cake is cardboard tubes and shit. And they use way too much of that nasty stuff he covers the cakes in, cake should have FROSTING

I always wondered that too. I imagine it tasting like flour paste for some reason.

If its Wilton brand it is AWFUL. Pettinice, satin ice, and fondux taste great. I make my own marshmellow fondant for non fondant lovers. It tastes yummy

Some are really, really yummy. Some are a bit too thick. They can be covered with a marizipan-like frosting also that is YUMMMMMYYYYY!

Wilton is a lowest-common-demoninator cheap fondant and tastes it! One should not use 'food' or baking ingredients which can be bought at a hobby store. biggrin

Marshmallow fondant is indeed delicious! Rolled white chocolate is a nice fondant alternative as well.

they're fun to look at but I wouldn't want to eat any of those. They handle the cakes and the fondant too much to the point where it kind of grosses me out. I don't want to eat some icing that someone's been rolling around in their hands and digging their fingers into it to sculpt it.

That is so cool you're a cake artist. My aunt's one too.....but not like Duff & Co. though. lol I guess it depends on the type of cake you request. Charm City Cakes have traditional ones too.

I wouldn't request a traditional one though. lol The crazier the better. lol

Yeah, I think about that too. One episode they were transporting this flamingo cake and they were having a hard time getting it in the van. No way it went untouched the whole trip there. Then it was starting to rain too. lol That was a show piece I think though. I'd like to think they're not like that with regular cakes.

Any dessert is my weakness lol That paint can is a favorite of mine too. The shine on it is pretty cool too. They made a film cans cake with the same silver finish too.

I've never had a cake with fondant. I'm sure as expensive as their cakes are, they'd use only the best. If not then they are ripping people off.
