I finally figured out how to get around the firewall on my company's laptop to get logged in and it's $10 for 24 hours of wi-fi at this stupid hotel!

And does anyone care who Drew Pearson is? I met him today. I didn't even bother to get an autograph.

Btw, I don't think that $10 a day is expensive. Or maybe it is. I dunno.

I suppose it's not all that much and I can probably get my work to cover it, except that I'm having trouble getting into my vpn for work so I'm not actually able to get into my work stuff. So I may not be able to justify it.

Every hotel I have ever stayed at it has been free. I guess if there are some who are charging they are making some money off of it.

None of the hotels around here charge for wi-fi.

Many California hotels charge for it, but some don't.

I think NY/NJ hotels charge 12 dollars for 24 hours. UK is the worst 15 pounds a day.. what a rip off...

I don't know why that surprises me so much since you're obviously smart and sensible enough for the job by far. Maybe I'm surprised because you're usually unwilling to get into conflicts yourself so I figured you'd also be unwilling to mediate other people's conflicts. Oh well, either way I think you have potential to be a fantastic moderator and congratulations for getting the job.


As for internet in hotel rooms, I just got back from Sicily and the hotel room had a flat screen tv and a wireless keyboard on the desk below. Turns out that there's a multimedia function where you can use the internet for 4 euros per day (which isn't bad) or get the whole package with unlimited pay-per-view movies (including their wide selection of adult movies ), internet and music for a total of 20 euros per day. I thought it was pretty high tech stuff and a relatively reasonable price too. Only problem was that once you've payed your twenty euros you want good value for your money and end up wasting almost a whole day watching movies.

I have spent $20 a day to use the internet in my hotel room, and about $16 to watch a pay per view movie in my room too..

..and about $10 an hour to use the internet in the hotel business centre..
