Ok, so I obtained a copy of ShortBus. But it's not one I can really watch as it was dubbed in what I believe is Russian.

Anyways, out of curiosity I skimmed through the movie.











People, there were graffic scenes of women sticking fingers in their Punanis, and mens dicks a floppin everywhere. In the very first 5 minutes, some guy fucks the shit out of his girlfriend from Piano, to bed, to couch, while another guys gets beat until he comes all over his Dominitrix's Modern Art painting (you actually see the Money shot), and other guy bends head over heals to squirt come in his own face (you see that too).


The topper was seeing 3 gay men, all of them handsome of course, in a 3-way cock sucking/ass eatin' extravaganza where they are singing the US National Anthem, one of the guys singing while his voice muffles and unmuffels as his face goes in and out of another guys asshole. All of it graffically shown. It was basically a clever scene that amounted to a large pornographic butthole jamboree.


I'm not so sure I want to get the English version now

I appreciate the idea that a movie director is able to show such graffically sexual content, yet not actually make a "porn", as none of the material felt like "wanking material", but some of it seemed gratuitous in nature. An R rated version of the movie may have worked out just fine. The movie seemed like just a bug F-U to social conservatives.


Who here has seen the movie in a language that they actually understood? Was it a good movie? It seemed kind of downbeat in scenes to me, but I was more or less just fast forwarding through it, then pausing to go and and and and so forth.

I think the sex scenes in the movie are it's only strength, the directing and the filmmaking are very film student amateur, case and point the part where the male couple are seeing the asian therapist and the drama comes to a head... very artificially and theatrically played out in a bad way.

She's a Canadian musician who was a VJ here for quite a while in the '90s and I think she still hosts a show on CBC radio.

She's a friend of a friend and she was interesting company (at least back in the day).

The CBC tried to prevent her from doing the film, but relented after several high-profile celebrities wrote letters on her behalf.

Before reading this Shortbus was number 109 on my netflix queue, now it's number 1.

russian bootleg shortbus. i think you can catch a disease from watching that.

i happen to love it and i think the sex scenes are the least that this film has to offer. when i watched it, i think it said more to me about relationships and living as a gen-x-er in lower manhattan than it was a "dirty art film" to me. the scene in the club with the "former new york mayor" and his monologue really got to me, and there were a few scenes where the dialogue really hit home for me.

i think this film will age badly, but it's still one of my all-time favorites, even without the weenage or va-jay-jays.
