Ever Dealt With Shallow People Or Shallow Moments?

Some of you may remember the time I posted about a shallow thing that happened to me my freshman year of college.
I was in a communications class and there was a guy that I believe he was a junior or senior and the guy was really nice and would be flirty and really talkative to me on various occasions. Well, one day the teacher put us all in a circle (it was a small class) and the point of the circle was for females and males to communicate our thoughts about the other gender. People started talking about stuff they didn't get about the other gender and etc then we started talking about looks and the guy said "I could never date a girl with weird toes! The second toe being longer than the first toe is a freak thing! A girl like that should get surgery because thats freak show!"
I was like eek confused mad I have toes like that! My first toe is shorter than the second toe! So what?!
I wore sandals to school a day or two later and I guess he saw my toes because he just said "hi" to me every now and then.
I really like spicy food. I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

Are you still a freak if those two toes are basically the same length?

If you didn't have shallow people then you would not know who the deep ones are. Shallow people are a waste of breathe which you could save for your dying day! wink

Always makes me wonder whether this chap, if and when he ever has children, and god forbid there was something wrong with them, you can imagine that he would take one look and leave and never come back. Sad people, sad minds, sad lives. sad

He's young and is probably just saying it because he saw it in Shallow Hal.

Practically everyone on this earth is guilty of shallowness, at one time or another and in one way or another; people judge others by superficial, ridiculous yardsticks every day. It is human nature at its most base. Anyone claiming to never being shallow - ever, in any respect - is either in denial, not looking deeply enough into themselves, or is not being completely truthful.

Some people are adept at hiding the shallow aspects of themselves or are at least more tactful about broadcasting it, whereas others are almost utterly oblivious to their behaviour and might (like your classmate) be obnoxious and thoughtlessly voice their opinions. Sadly, others are fully aware of their shallowness and either don't care that they are perceived so, or rationalize it: ex. "I will not date anybody who is/is not XXXXX, or has/does not have XXXXX, but that's just what I seek in a partner and I will settle for nothing less."

Then there are those who possess a bit of self-awareness and recognize in what ways they are too shallow or superficial and work to grow beyond being such. I believe most people fall into this category, especially as they mature.

As for your toes, feel special - a woman's second toe being longer than the first is supposed to be a sign of her having descended from royalty. smile

i don't know anything about toes. i don't look at them. i find feet ugly. barf

i *AM* kind of shallow about fingernails, though. men with long fingernails gross me out. it's one thing if they're neatly manicured - i still think it's gross, but at least they're maintained - but if they're just LONG and raggedy, i seriously sometimes want to offer them my nail clippers and do an intervention. that is NASTY.
